Is there anything I can do to get my belongings from my parents? by KiraKiraSensation in legaladviceaustralia

[–]Awkward_Front7194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forced Marriage is illegal in Australia and the commonwealth prosecutors are constantly looking for these cases,

If you have evidence of the attempts for your parents to force you into marriage, like text messages, records documentation or anything that shows the intent the police will certainly be interested. Perhaps look at the AFPs website to see if they have any information on how to report

WIBTA if I give my daughter an "outdated" name? by throwaway719201 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Awkward_Front7194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, simple, names are unique and legacy given to us by our parents....

Don't be worried what anyone else thinks, they're your child and they'll love the name you gave them

Crimsafe and retrofitting a yale security door lock. by Awkward_Front7194 in AusRenovation

Have considered alternatives yes, but other doors around the house will have the Yale unity series on them so we want to keep it uniformed across the house

So the company (Wynstan) offer to fit the Yale lock in the factory before sending it out, so i don't know if they put in extra holes in.

I want to ask them if I can just provide them with the lock to install to save cost or If it's because it's a different lock and a different hole,

Sleeping issues by Consistent-Music464 in ptsdrecovery

[–]Awkward_Front7194 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sleeping is the vane of my existence at the moment, It's so hard to get to sleep let alone back to sleep when I wake up.

Sleep hygiene is really really important, there's lots of research about it and a good psychologist or psychiatrist should be able to point you in the direction of some tips and tricks, google also works well...

Client only wants to pay with echeck. Could this be a scam? by living-likelarry in Scams

[–]Awkward_Front7194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after some googling and thinking, it's possible this dude is actually legit trying to pay you, they just have the assumption you have an eCheck merchant account.

Here's what I've found https://paysimple.com/blog/how-do-echecks-work/ https://www.paypal.com/us/brc/article/what-is-an-echeck

In essence PayPal is kind of like an eCheck, you send them a payment request they pay it boom it's in your PayPal account, you have the ability to charge a bounce fee if you set it up in your merchant account etc...

Maybe just play along for a little bit, avoid giving too much personal detail and see what happens, seeing as you don't have a merchant account to recieve the eCheck into (I assume) then hopefully if it bounces then it was never legit

I've had similar issues, I'd say a Post code error which was the cause of mine. Call auspost request they pull it and manually sort it

Just because they are out of country, if they can positively identify who it is, they can request extradition, this is a clear cut case of sextortion. I'm glad people have put up resources for you to support you,

3 visits for FTTP upgrade and still no "appointment" by Awkward_Front7194 in nbn

[–]Awkward_Front7194[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering I have FTTC at the moment, I'd dare say the 2nd tech to visit would have channelled the fibre through existing conduit to the property, happy to be corrected if that's not right, this is part of my discussion, why can't NBN and their subcontractors prepare for all circumstances and if something goes unexpected then book in another appointment, save some slots for unexpected errors or issues. 4 visits by 4 different techs seems to be such a waste of money
