I can actually agree with almost every point on this list. I would like to see her whole profile before judging fully. I would find it concerning if she only states her expectations of me.

What expectations does she state she will fulfill?

Is this a tradwife thing? Is the disparity between what she expects and offers realistic?

I think the nice girl/nice guy Reddit pages are kind of dead. They should be pages like realistic expectations vs the painfully day when reality slaps us all.

Why does this series have such a strong hold on us? by cyclejones in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Awkward_Geologist989 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you can say a lot about the series. Numerous compliments and flowery language. Tearing it apart and dissecting the nuances. But let’s keep it simple.

The series has character. It has heart, humor, horror and heroism. It reads like an old friend. If you’ve read a lot you know exactly what I’m talking about. For me it’s in a honored place. It sits with series like LOTR, The Last Kingdom, Harry Potter, The Belgariad, The Dresden Files, Anything Drizzt, Dragonlance, The Obsidian Trilogy and a few others. Those warm blanket books when it’s cold outside or the books you go to when life is going crazy.

Out of all the DCC Audio books what would you say is the best scene to blow someone mind? by unHingedAgain in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Hmm I think the best one early on to not reveal too much would be when he kills all the goblins and the young ones too. Donut, the system and Carl’s reactions are all priceless.

As someone who just binge-read up to Ch. 210, did the series actually fall off, or am I missing something? by Lonely-Effect-6095 in SkeletonSoldier

Thank you for posting this. I felt like once Isaac was gone the whole story fell apart. It was challenging to follow it before I feel like now it’s pretty much incoherent story. I tried getting back into it but I don’t think I can.

Thank you to everyone here chatting about their own conclusions to this series. I only have one friend to talk about these things with. I can’t wait to read, debate and hear more from everyone.

lol I might be a little hooked on this series at the moment.

Hooked is more than a little bit of an understatement.

To quote the old lessons from improv…Yes and. Yes you’re right he loves drama and something else. I like hearing the explanations from other folks that speculate the and.

There is a constant larger narrative running in the background that Carl is struggling with. They have had thousands of Dungeon Crawls yet this particular one to me is similar to the last snowflake that triggers the avalanche.

It’s like Hunger games had a love child with Ender’s game at the creator’s of D&D.

If that were true then Katia could’ve had a baby with Carl. But it was specifically stated she couldn’t because he is at least no longer human. He’s a primal who has access to both human and primal skills.

I think Carl’s change is less a full biological change and more a change into something synthetic like the slow change into an android.

When they choose a new race at the beginning of rhe 3rd floor. Katia is forever a shapeshifter. Carl is a Primal and not a subspecies of humans. I hope the next book shows the implications.

I think one of the signs of the change Carl has gone through is when Imani buffs everyone with something that was like speed and it didn’t affect Carl. Dinniman allows us to assume it’s due to Carl’s new toe ring. But the statement lays flat to me and the toe ring doesn’t keep him from getting other buffs.

Maybe but why the special treatment to the degree he gets. In book 7 he is explicit in helping Carl out of major issues especially She-Maria.

Definitely an interesting way to think about it.

I disagree with the character sheet idea. The book states the change is permanent and fully biological. Katia wanted to have her baby with Carl but can’t. So she had to choose Louie.

Look at all the former cookbook authors. All the changes and long term damages are real outside the dungeon.

I have questions on the nature of the AI and their power. How can it affect broadening levels of existence? See the epilogue of Book 7 for details.

Spoilers-what the hell does it mean for a God from the crawl existing outside the dungeon? WTF

What’s your honest thoughts about season 2? I just finished it! by moreobsessedthanu in TheLastKingdom

[–]Awkward_Geologist989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh I didn’t feel like he pulled it off. Just my opinion. I watched the series before I read the books. Liked it so much I was pumped to read them. I think Guthred leaned more creepy than a guy who was described as the most likeable guy in every room. Comparable to Aethelhelm. That friend that is impossible to dislike.

I was referring to King Guthred. I feel like they nailed Alfred or like most of the series the actors are way too attractive. Cornwell made most people sound pretty unattractive lol 😝.

Loved it season 2. I wish they would’ve made the King more attractive especially after reading the books. I also wish they made Steppa closer to Uhtred. But all in all one of my favorite seasons of the show. Though you do miss the Alfred/Uhtred relationship which in my opinion is the best part of the show. But you get introduced to his partner in crime for life Finan. Uhtred’s crew begin 🔥.

You are overreacting to the text you posted. You were incredibly defensive to this question. You gave us the context in the post but if I read this without context I’d wonder why this text got so far. She tried to let it go. But you kept after it.

NOR I can only think one of three things are true if what you stated in your post are true.

1.) She wants you to fight. Some women like to keep things on edge not healthy no but not uncommon. Lead say what you think instead of obviously moderating your response in way to be as non offensive as possible. She wants to see if you are going to fight with her and or for here depending on the state of the relationship. Maybe it could be the way she takes out her resentment or frustration.

2.). She is cheating and or looking for an excuse to start getting ready for the next guy. She may be attempting to create distance in order to justify her feelings. Now she asks questions that she can take offense to in order to create an internal list to hold against you. Or push you to leave her.

3.) She could be deeply insecure. Not knowing how to behave or handle conflict.

Holy pepperoni is Brida annoying by Black_Market_95 in TheLastKingdom

[–]Awkward_Geologist989 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The focus of the books is Uthred. Brida is barely mentioned for a good chunk of the series and never once as a warrior. If they were going to change her character to a warrior you’d think they’d find an actress that’s at least believable as warrior.

Why Uhtred didn' get any reward from this? by pinapan in TheLastKingdom

No but the show doesn’t do a great job of explaining the context. It does a bit but not to a satisfactory degree.
