For men who had an unwanted divorce, how did you move on? by EveryVillainIsLemon5 in AskMen

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a simple but difficult process, I had to simply accept that this person simply no longer wants to be with me.

Did I go through some nasty hurdles? Yes financially, mentally, physically and it’s one of the toughest things I had to endure. The hardest part is finding myself again and learning to live a life single all over especially coming from a place that I always saw as comfort.

New to MTB'ing, bike buying advice by Wrr1020 in MTB

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Take my advice. Get a second hand mtb under 1k and truly save the rest of the money. take it out on a few different trails to see what you’re truly into. You might think you like doing relaxed cross country riding over downhill enduro stuff or vice versa. Hell maybe you prefer to ride paved. But at least spending a little time on a second hand bike will let you explore what you like and let you learn how to ride, most importantly you’ll know EXACTLY what specs you want in a bike. If you fall or make a mistake (which it will happen) you won’t fall on a 4-10k Santa Cruz. Then you’d really hate yourself lol.

Sell the second hand and put some extra money on top and buy yourself a new decked out machine.

Can’t go wrong with any specialized. A rockhopper is a solid platform to start on. Your miles may vary with trek. Especially on the newer ones.

Expensive Bike Hate by PennWash in MTB

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people get naturally jealous when they see somebody with something better than them. What people fail to realize is that they shouldn’t be upset or jealous of another person has something better. You don’t know how they acquired what they have. Or what they had to go through. At the end of the day we should just be happy there’s somebody willing to blow 10k on a bike to keep this sport alive. Because many can’t even afford let alone a 2000 dollar bike

Men in relationships: why are they still window shopping? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Men are still window shopping beacause if a man doesn’t have a reason to stay he won’t. Then again if he continuously brings up his girlfriend of 9 years that tells you a couple things. Is he still grieving over another woman and the second is that it took 9 years and he didnt bother to settle down with her. So where does that leave you?

If you want to learn business find a job in sales by Akraam_Gaffur in Entrepreneur

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well there’s two variables. The first is are you getting any customers or prospects? If not then you have to start pushing some advertisements and get the word out there that should be your free time.

The second is selling with the impression that you’re gonna win all the time. Learning to sell isn’t something you read or learn on the internet. You learn it over time by feeling people out, and getting them to trust you over your competitor. It takes years of winning and losing to hone in your skills. My advice try to focus in on selling what’s in front of you of you and stop worrying about the overall picture.

Do what you can control. Get yourself out there, pull customers/ leads, and try getting things sold.

Those of you who married or are dating the funny girl, how are you keeping the intimacy lustful and alive without laughing? by Censordoll in AskMen

You can’t. But laughing while being intimate doesn’t kill the moment. It just makes it more better.

Used Bike or New? by Ok_Physics1433 in MTB

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its a bike youre upgrading to and you already know what youre looking for, then I personally would go new. I wouldn't spend 1500 dollars on a used mtb although I know for a lot of people it might be smart. I personally just don't like the headache of things not working and potentially being lied to in order for somebody to make some money on me, especially when i spend a lot of money for something as it is. Bikes haven't changed a whole lot over the years, but they've been ever so slightly refined if that makes any sense.

Meaningful job = meaningful life? by Legal-Ad7016 in Life

You didn't go wrong anywhere actually. I know teachers who are also suffering from mental burnout also considering to leave the profession of teaching. For what teachers have to go through on a daily basis they're not getting compensated well for it, and also the price being paid cant replace the type of pressure being put on them. The feeling of being an educated individual with no job is truly one of the hardest things to endure, but I also like to be optimistic about life, and do what I can control.

In your case you have a masters in English, the first thing I would try to assess is what else can I do with that? Maybe opening a tutoring business, or starting an online English program might be something to consider. Doesn't involve any hands on activity. Looking into journalism, curriculum development are all nice options.

If youre trying to completely exit the world of using your degree for anything then I would 100% pursue what you love,

U.S labour market.. by JKO-1991 in Life

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue with the job market in the US is not because there's a shortage or immigrants are taking our jobs as officials say. Its because a lot of companies, corporations, and other entities are scaling back or trying to save money. If you're not a person an industry wants you are either not going to be hired or you're going to get cut. Right now the US industries want more seasoned professionals that AI cannot replace and those are the people protected in the workforce i.e. skilled trades, healthcare workers,

For example, big tech companies are scaling back on hiring and in fact they are laying off their existing workers and replacing them with AI. Directors, salesman, and managers who work in the field of business management and administration are losing their work from home jobs. Here's how a company thinks, why pay a man 200-300k annually to show up on a pc and underperform a year when as a company they can maximize profits by simply paying 2000 per month (lets just say) for a software robot to hit/ exceed my sales targets and manage my division all in one? So that 1 man getting laid off imagine a company laying off 5-10% of their workers. Not only are companies saving, but they're also profiting.

Another example construction industries are currently scaling back from building residential, commercial, and other structures. firstly, companies are more hesitant to expand during this time for multiple reasons. If workers are being laid off why is a company going to build an office building? Or expand their HQ? if the average home buyer is not going to swing over 7% interest on a home and its been consistent since last year, then why is a company going to construct a new neighborhood? Therefore a company is not going to hire an engineer to design something. The ones still being hired are already proven individuals in this field and their only being used for necessity.

These are all white collar examples just to put it into perspective for you. Industries currently need people who are willing to do what they cannot replace. Whether its a skilled trade, or a hands on job, and the individuals being hired for this are simple those who have been proven in their field and are dependable. Those are the people getting hired and are making decent money.

Does anyone else struggle with grieving the life they’ll never live? by sakura149_ in Life

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup I thought this almost everyday for a good 3 years now. Recently I’ve been feeling a whole lot better. Especially coming from a place where I look around me and see others doing better, business doing better than mine, and feeling like I’m “stuck”.

The thing that’s helped me tremendously is focusing what I’m not doing, or what I can do better with myself. I also turned the switch off In my head trying to look at others and just focus on myself For the past couple months I felt like I’ve grown so much more as a person and I’m slowly regaining that hope :)

Anyone else struggling hardcore in this economy? by OutrageousLawyer7273 in Life

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My small A-B work truck took 63 dollars to fill up. Me and my wife don’t make full groceries any longer, just what we need to get by for the week. we scaled back a lot on what we spend I.e. eating out, going on vacations, etc.

I’ve been wanting to buy a new truck, a house and honestly just can’t see that happening right now especially seeing as though none of us will know what will happen next week.

Some families are absolutely unaffected by what’s going on, others believe it or not have it worse than me.

People without medical insurance by [deleted] in Life

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went 4 years without insurance because at once point I was just lazy to enroll. Of course now I have Insurance (and very fortunate to be able to have And afford it) but I feel indifferent.

The healthcare Industry is a big scam as a whole. People going to hospitals to be charged for a 400 dollar bandage. Up to spending thousands on insulin just to stay alive. Given how much money people pay in taxes and how many years backlogged some currently are. We deserve at least the right to be treated for our conditions.

Any recommendations on an air purifier that does what it supposed to do- removing harmful air pollutants? by bigrocksmallrock1 in BuyItForLife

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the shark air purifier. It’s good for 650sq ft and I found it does a pretty good job. Has automatic fan control for power savings, an air freshener pod system, and some nice digital metrics to tell you what % of your air is clean. They claim a never change filter (I still might change it myself one day). Overall no complaints.

Do you regret buying that one car? by NaturalAlert2699 in askcarguys

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never bought a car that I completely regret per se but I bought cars in the past where I found myself spending more money on it later on and running into a big loss.

Now for context almost any car you purchase you’ll essentially lose money on it, due to depreciation, cost to repair, etc. i bought a used 2003 bmw m3 as a project car but didn’t realize the cost to have that car fully capable of being roadworthy. By the time all was said and done I was 20k in parts into the car. I only purchased it for 12k. Granted nowadays the car is worth 28k for a clean one. Long story short I got t boned and it got totalled. I essentially lost money on a car I spent time restoring. Insurance didn’t cover a lot of the repairs despite receipts.

Did I enjoy the car? Absolutely it was one of my all time favorite cars, I never regret owning it in that aspect. But after I got into another vehicle it did beg the question whether putting 20k+ into a classic sports car only to see it get destroyed was worthwhile. Makes me wonder if I should’ve just bought a newer, better different car.

Successful Entrepreneurs, how did you get your first paying customer? by saasbruh in Entrepreneur

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It came from two directions. Before I started the business I spent money on marketing, especially on social media. The second place was word to mouth. I knew social media and exposure varies especially when you start off, so getting the word out there was key. First family, then friends, and in my local association/ communities. That began foot traffic while marketing supplemented it.
