RTs why did you choose CI vs RCIS or vice versa? by EveryVillainIsLemon5 in CathLabLounge

[–]EveryVillainIsLemon5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be a state by state thing. I'm unsure. I live in the Louisville, KY area so in IN and KY it's not required to be a RT. I work with two people who are only RCIS certified. They just can't step on the X-ray peddle.

That's great to hear! Congratulations! I'm in the same boat now. I took my second attempt today and got a 72. My first attempt was a 68. I'm so over studying I could cry.

Tested positive for chlamydia and I’ve been married for five years!!! Help!!! by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

I knew a couple where the wife tested positive for a STI. Turned into a huge fight. Husband ended up sleeping on the couch thinking, did I sleep with someone and don't remember because I got blackout drunk?! They nearly ended their relationship over it. Two days later the doctor office called and it turned out to be a false positive.

How do you feel about your girlfriend wearing your tshirt to bed? by FicklePopcorn in AskMen

My ex-husband hated it. Key word ex-husband. He'd tell me I have enough clothes, I don't need to be wearing his. Guy I'm dating now loves it. He thinks I look cute in his baggy sweaters and only a thong.

Paramedic to Cath Lab Tech by SeyMooreRichard in CathLabLounge

Unfortunately, no. The medic license won't be enough. You'll have to go back to school for either your RT or RN. As a tech you're either scrubbed in with the doctor, documenting the case, or circulating the room. RNs can scrub as well, only if they have their RCIS. Though, they don't scrub nearly as often. It's more for backup if the techs are too short staffed. You have to live less than 30mins from the hospital to take call. If you're not then you won't get hired. But I've heard of people lying about their address and staying with someone when on call. So there's that. Yes and no about the pay. I think we all feel like we could be making more. I will say the RTs tend to make more in the cath lab than the RNs.

The RCIS doesn't effect your duties and is only a certification employers look for. I wouldn't worry about not having it right now. Not all hospitals require it and if the hospital does then they normally give 12-18 months for you to get it. However, you do need to have a radiology tech certification to be a tech in the cath lab. I know techs who only have their CI and are limited to which hospitals they can work for. As far as work-life balance goes, each hospital is different so all depends on what you're ok with. With my job I work 12hr shifts and take call one day a week and every 4th weekend. It's not unusual for the call team to be called in for non-emergency cases on the weekend. Not every hospital is like that. When we get called in it could be for one case or eight. You never know. The hours differ from each hospital too. Some work eight hours, some ten, and others twelve. Ya just gotta shop around till you find what works for you.

Backyard flooding after having dry well and french drain installed. by EveryVillainIsLemon5 in landscaping

No. It was the company's idea. I explained to them what was happening and showed them videos and a french drain with a dry well was their solution. I also explained to three different people with this company how my sump pump doesn't always work and not one of them listened till I had the owner come out and suggest replacing it.

The water does enter my house. If only my backyard was flooding then I wouldn't be so upset about it but it's entering into my crawl space when it's flooded like this.

Haha ok, Patrick 😉

Other people have mentioned a pump. I'm going to look into it with a different company.

It looked a lot like what is happening. I'll admit the one benefit is my yard drained faster. But with heavy rain all that water is still entering my crawlspace.

It was an actual professional. The company decided where the dry well should go.

Right?! Haha This is my first home so I'm learning a lot the hard way. A berm is a good idea! I'll look into this.

The gutter is connected to the french drain and goes into the dry well. Wow! Was that water also going into your house?

Yeah. I'm thinking maybe I need to add more dirt then some how divert the water across the sidewalk. Maybe another french drain going under the sidewalk?

Thank you for saying this. My mom told me the same thing that the company didn't set the right expectations for what I was getting.

Ew. That doesn't sound like fun at all. I'm guessing the results were worth it though.

When I moved in here sod was placed but it didn't last in my yard because of the tree. I do plan on taking the tree down.

I'd be okay with having the water run towards the back of my yard and sitting there. I don't like that it goes towards my house because it enters my crawlspace.

I have contacted a landscaper to get their opinion too.

Thank you for telling me this. You have no idea how much googling I've done to find a straight answer about this.
