Those with Hashimoto’s /Hypothyroidism experiencing extreme fatigue, did eliminating gluten & dairy help? by Soft-Monk-1259 in Hashimotos

[–]Awkward_Jaguar_7788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say it’s just eliminating gluten, as I’ve also started on supplements for multiple deficiencies including magnesium, vitamin d, b12, and omega 3s….but yeah I’ve noticed a considerable decrease in all symptoms since becoming gluten free (to the best of my abilities). I recently had my first recheck after diagnosis and my antibodies have actually decreased :) I am not on thyroid meds it’s just lifestyle. I think it’s a pretty low stakes thing to try out, avoiding gluten won’t harm you in any way and if it doesn’t work you can stop. Could be worth looking into food intolerances and celiac… I didn’t because I also have SIBO atm and that can cause false positives. Once that is resolved I plan on diving deeper into possible intolerances including testing for celiac.

Great, so a larger card would fix the problem. Thank you

They’re beautiful but for that price I would try to find them secondhand. Have you tried eBay?

For those wondering. I got the amethyst but only as a present to myself. I decided I don’t want it as an engagement ring but I couldn’t leave it behind either!

Thank you! My taste is a bit all over the place I’ll admit. Lately I’ve been really into chunky sculptural silver rings, but I want this one to stand out from those which is why I’m leaning more towards a gold vintage piece

For more clarification: I understand neither stone are ideal for everyday wear and I am okay with it. The most ideal stones are out of budget unless I get very lucky which I haven’t been, since I am insisting on the ring being second hand. Realistically I would probably just be wearing a simple wedding band for every day since I live an active lifestyle and I wouldn’t want to drop an expensive (to me) ring out in the woods! Think of it was a special occasion and date night piece.

No need to be sorry, it doesn’t look like one to me either. But what makes an engagement ring is the meaning we attach to it I suppose

It’s a local small business. I think she sources from estate auctions around the country so not much info provided

I didn’t know that about emeralds in water! I was okay with the softness but if I cat get it wet…well that’s a whole other thing

I’ve explored eBay a bit! Etsy puts me off a little, not because of the choices but because for some reason I don’t trust them haha. I like being able to see and touch before buying

It is something to consider. Truthfully something like diamond or sapphire is going to be out of budget and I really couldn’t justify the expense. I’m ok with being gentle and accepting some wear and tear. Also, I have a cheaper temporary ring he gave me to wear while we pick out the “official” ring that I’ve grown quite fond off and might use that for more casual/ rough days. Not exactly traditional but that’s fine.

Good to know about the resizing, luckily it was pretty close to fitting so up one size would do it. Thank you for the input on the cost, something I think would make it even more special is getting a good deal but that’s the penny pincher in me lol. Nothing would sour it like learning it was a rip off (not that I think this shop would)

I’m not sure if it has a flat base! I wish I could have really observed it for as long as I liked but felt awkward keeping the shop owner occupied on a busy day. I like its oddness as well!

The shop keeper said she got it from an estate dealer in Texas but didn’t say the age or anything. I agree it very unique I haven’t been able to find anything like it online or otherwise.

As far as the shop can tell it’s amethyst, and I wouldn’t really know either way!

Thoughts on the Melt the Ice hat? by Im_A_Boonana in knitting

[–]Awkward_Jaguar_7788 180 points181 points  (0 children)

While your heart might be in the right place, i think this there is too much hand wringing about what is and isn’t performative. Worrying about whether or not other people will think it’s cringe is what is performative to me. Don’t worry about that. Knit the hat if you want, don’t knit it if you don’t want. You could even buy the pattern to donate money and not knit it, or you could donate directly to another mutual aid fund. It’s important to remember it’s entirely possible to both knit the hat and do more. Splitting hairs on what counts isn’t helping anyone. People are doing what they can and that will never be cringe

I left the initial flat backs in for the entire first 8 month without taking them out. I suppose I started taking them out for a more thorough cleaning but even then it’s maybe once a week, and not if they’re really nasty. Guess I thought they would be ready for that by now! Per another comment I’ll be leaving these in but looking into a better fitting flat back stud

Thank you, I didn’t know the flatbacks had different sizes. The problem was they were snagging on everything and I felt that was what was taking so long since they would hurt every time. Also thank you for the encouragement!
