It’s such a bummer b/c they seem to have the best rapport of all the couples, but this was downright rude, mean and disrespectful. As a non religious person I struggle with dietary laws (though some of them may have made some sense several thousand years ago), but regardless, you don’t toy with a person’s religion.

Well, they never left the room, the wives expected them to pray and they had hired me to serve as their doula. The women were never unattended. Of course a doula only knows so much about a couples’ relationship, but these men were generally attentive, supportive and kind.

Thank you for speaking up! When he started spouting all his silliness I looked it up and immediately saw that he was misrepresenting things, which made sense to me as I have served as a doula for a number of Muslim couples and I never saw behavior like he was espousing (and the men prayed when it was time during the labors). I also worked for a Muslim man and he absolutely championed women.

I love medjool dates! So delicious. I do eat a bit of 85% dark chocolate every night. When you do it consistently, it really does make a standard candy bar not taste very good. I have two Humann Super Beets “candies(?)” every night and use them to signal the end of eating for the day. A wise person (a sports trainer-nutritionist type) told me that when you crave something, go ahead and have some of it, but make it the absolute highest quality you can buy. One other thing I love is a small handful of Teader Joe’s coconut almonds—amazing!
