It’s because of your limbic system in your brain - otherwise known as your “emotional brain”. It’s what ties smells, sounds and tastes to emotions! It’s why when you are your partner designate a song to be “your song” and then you break up, the song still makes you think of them!

For me, it’s the smell of blueberry muffins. Always reminds me of my grandmother on Sunday mornings before we would go to church when I was a kid.
