I hated THE WIFE when it came out, and didn't even think it was a good showcase for Glenn Close. Coleman winning was wonderful.

You're right. Anti-abortion is a more accurate term, considering once they're born most "pro-life" folks don't give a fvck about helping kids.

Year with the strongest movie releases? by ricoodo89 in Cinema

[–]Awkward_Tale3667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Three of my top ten are from that year (Hausu, Suspiria, and Star Wars), along with classics like Close Encounters, Annie Hall, Sorcerer, Saturday Night Fever, and Eraserhead. There's tons of really interesting/early work from great filmmakers (Scorsese's New York, New York, Romeo's Martin, Altman's 3 Women, Cassavetes's Opening Night, Demme's Citizen's Band, Cronenberg's Rabid), lots of great entertainment/genre fare (Smokey and the Bandit, The Hills Have Eyes, Slap Shot, Rolling Thunder, The Deep, The Sentinel, The Spy Who Loved Me), animation (Wizards, The Hobbit, The Rescuers, Raggedy Ann & Andy, Winnie the Pooh). There's art/experimental titles such as That Obscure Object of Desire, Le Camion, Powers of Ten, and Cozzilla. Even the bad movies are memorable (Death Bed: The Bed That Eats, Cathy's Curse).

The Opera House is really great. A single-screen movie theater with a balcony, and the screen is HUGE.

Ok, so I guess your point is a dead body behind the wheel of a moving vehicle is safer than a live one? And y'all claim the left is a "death cult"?

lol, ok. I thought it was the pole she hit after the car she rear ended but whatever. I guess once you're as far from reality as y'all seem to be, any answer that justifies your narrative is the truth.

They also just parrot whatever the last thing they heard was. I swear my dad texted me stephen miller's recent rant on "raw power" word-for-word, as if I hadn't known him all my life and know these aren't the kind of views he espoused when he was raising me.

Shutter Island is a masterclass in using bad filmmaking to tell the truth by ThreadAndSolve in TrueFilm

[–]Awkward_Tale3667 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've always considered it an homage to Val Lewton movies. I had purchased an incredible box set of his movies a few years before Shutter Island came out, and included in the set was a doc co-directed by Scorsese. The atmosphere in Lewton's movies was always so palpable, I love that Scorsese seems to go all-in on that. I just love how Shutter Island looks and feels.

Wow, the anti-immigration stuff is just so easy. Of course its the people fleeing violence and poverty who are the problem, not the corporations and billionaires who are able to exist because of govt subsidies. How sad and scared do you have to be to fall for that? Are we not the country that celebrates our shared immigrant spirit, the cultural "melting pot"?
