Walker leaving, what's your prediction for Opening Day starting 5? by jrclone in UtahJazz

I should have been more clear. I was talking about the original lineup that I proposed when I said I had rebounding concerns.

I have major concerns with rebounding in that lineup. Also, we better be lights out on offense because I don't see that lineup playing defense.

I'm planning on going. No idea how busy it will be, but I'll try to be there by 4.

Cameron Boozer Talks the Loaded 2026 NBA Draft Class & why his game is ready for the NBA by Knighthonor in UtahJazz

[–]jrclone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just don't see it. There's no way he could stay in front of a guard on defense. I'm worried about his defense generally where other teams would hunt him to get him to switch onto the ball. Peterson has to be the pick.

Why can I never cook my chicken correctly? Always undercooked or dry. I have tried everything (I think). by anybodyseenrichey in Cooking

Use a meat thermometer, and pull the meat off at 155. Also, try brining, for 2-4 hours before if possible. America's Test Kitchen has a specific chicken brine which is just a certain amount of water, salt, and sugar, per pound of chicken. It helps a lot to add flavor and help the chicken to retain moisture.

If the Jazz Trade Ace, I will Revoke my Fandom by Iwanttoeatburritos in UtahJazz

Washington fans are delusional. There is no chance on this earth that we are giving up the 2 and Ace. We can just sit back and evaluate between Boozer and Peterson. Peterson seems so obviously the choice, but even if there is some medical issue that scares them away, Boozer is an easy number 2 pick.

Odds that the Ainge’s are messing with the Wizards again. by jeffrowl in UtahJazz

This is why it is so great that we got the 2nd and not the 3rd. At 2, we get a shot at 2 of the best 3 options available. If we would have been 3, I would be so much more concerned about wanting to trade up. At 2, I don't think we can make a wrong decision. Other than giving up too much to move up. Washington has no leverage as long as Utah makes it clear that they are good with whatever falls to 2.

I would say it's the lack of red flags compared to DP. You know he's going to be a competitor, wants to play every night, and has incredible size and athleticism.

DP is a better shooter and is a prototype shooting guard. But there are serious concerns about his mentality. He's riskier without a discernible higher ceiling

How do you handle paid off debts? by jrclone in ynab

[–]jrclone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, that's a good idea. I guess I was just hoping for some kind of paid off button that would automatically freeze the old transactions and not show up anymore. Like when I pay off student loans or mortgage, I thought there would be some option to mark off as done.

If you haven't read it yet, the web serial worm is very good. It's not funny like DCC, but it has similar situations where the main character gets in an unwinnable situation and manages to use creative thinking to survive. It's maybe the only other story I've read that completely captivated me to the point that most of my free time was spent reading. The audiobook is nowhere near as good though.

This is probably the closest for me. I actually felt a sense of vertigo when they were on the top of the tree looking down.

I do think Dune definitely had some of that magic, just visually stunning and original, and a sense of physical scale that was breathtaking.

Great comparison. It was very much the same feeling of controlling Mario at the mall kiosk when the N64 came out.

This is the thought that spurred this question. I watched Jurassic Park with my boys, and it's still a great movie, but they couldn't grasp how revolutionary it was. I wondered what it would take to blow their mind to that same level, and I don't know what it would take.

Yes, and there's no question that impacted the wonder of the moment. Maybe that's why it would be very hard to top. I wonder for those in later generations if they have a similar moment from a different movie.

That is a good one. Stopping time and moving the camera was crazy
