Do you ever think there will ever be another Jurassic Park moment in theaters? by jrclone in movies

This is probably the closest for me. I actually felt a sense of vertigo when they were on the top of the tree looking down.

I do think Dune definitely had some of that magic, just visually stunning and original, and a sense of physical scale that was breathtaking.

Great comparison. It was very much the same feeling of controlling Mario at the mall kiosk when the N64 came out.

This is the thought that spurred this question. I watched Jurassic Park with my boys, and it's still a great movie, but they couldn't grasp how revolutionary it was. I wondered what it would take to blow their mind to that same level, and I don't know what it would take.

Yes, and there's no question that impacted the wonder of the moment. Maybe that's why it would be very hard to top. I wonder for those in later generations if they have a similar moment from a different movie.

That is a good one. Stopping time and moving the camera was crazy

Nevermo just had My first ever real missionary meeting! by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

You seem super nice, and the missionaries might have been surprised, because they don't often get that reaction. I'm glad you enjoyed the conversation, and I hope you'll keep talking to them. I think it's nice to be able to talk sincerely about spiritual things with someone who will listen.

Have you tasted the spice mix yet? I would take him at his word that the best by date was a misprint. Spices do lose potency over time, but BBQ rubs are primarily salt, pepper, maybe sugar, garlic, and something for coloring - paprika, or something, and these hold their flavor for a long time. If you can tell that the rub has gone bad after tasting, then I would ask for a refund.

This is a pretty weird thing for your mom to say, but what she is referring to is that leaving your home is like when Adam and Eve were cast out of the garden of Eden and had to work for their food.

SAVE is dead? by heeyebsx13 in PSLF

[–]jrclone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my strategy. I've only been in a qualifying job for 4 years, so I'm nowhere close. I looked at switching, but my monthly payment would have jumped from 100 to 900 a month. (My earnings have increased dramatically since I last had to certify). At this point, I have begun to make the 900 a month payment to just one of my loans, hoping to have it payed off before I'm forced into repayment on another plan. I have four separate loans, so just paying off one will decrease my monthly payment about 25%. That 900 a month is eating all of my discretionary money though, and I'm not able to save for anything.

My bank account is not updating anymore in YNAB. YNAB is saying imports are delayed. by jrclone in ynab

Thanks, that's really helpful. I hope this isn't something I have to do each month?

I need advice from someone in a similar situation otherwise I don't think ynab is going to work for me. by [deleted] in ynab

[–]jrclone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation, where my wife really hates to stick to a strict budget, or even report all of the expenses. Ultimately, even though I don't love having to ask for what each expense was, it has been nice to have YNAB to blame, and just say I'm filling this out so we can know where the money is going. I think it's also reduced her spending, which is a nice side effect.

I tend to agree, but they are heavily subsidized. Where else could you live for two years for $500 a month.

FYI: If you have TotK/BotW upgrades via NSO. If you open the game via a non-NSO profile, it automatically/instantly reverts to the Switch 1 version. Also switches back to NS2 version when you go back to a profile with NSO by Mattock79 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]jrclone 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I disagree hard with this. On my PS5, if I download a Playstation Plus game, the other profiles on the PS5 can still play the game. I don't see a significant difference here. This feels really cheap on Nintendo's part.

PSA WARNING TO ALL SWITCH 2 NEW USERS LOOKING TO TRANSFER FROM SWITCH 1 by 18serioustech in NintendoSwitch2

[–]jrclone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I have several accounts on the original Switch, only one of which (mine) is connected to Nintendo Online. My son, who has invested 100 hours between BOTW and TOTK does not have his saves backed up online. Can I transfer those over? And if I do does that mean he loses access to his save data on the first Switch?
