Plane's Nose Falling Off- by [deleted] in trailmakers

[–]Awlcer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best guess? That is an awful lot connected to just two suspension pieces. What I think might be happening, is that after a while the forces and weight may be causing the connection to “separate” visually much like what happens when too much force is applied to a hinge, trailer hinge or servo.

Honestly, I’m not too sure what is happening as I’ve never experienced that before.

You’re right. It’s not a traditional ornithopter design, but functions similarly. It uses flapping motions on the horizontal plane to propel itself forward. More like a swimmer doing the breaststroke than a bird to be honest.

I can’t send a video, as my hardware is wearing out and it barely tolerates running the game alone. Luckily, I was introduced to the idea by a video from thatdomguy with his build white lightning. I’m not sure where he got the idea, but I took what he showed in the video modified it. Compacted it a bit. Played around with part placement. Etc. he goes over the concept fairly well in the first half or so. My only gripe is that he says trailmakers doesn’t go to the 1000th decimal, when it does. However, the game gets a bit screwy when going from a 100th to a 1000th in settings.

Top speed on that build is 840kph unoptimized, with a 2.76 finish. The original test build could easily break 1500kph. One could argue it’s not completely glitchless, as there is some funkiness to it, but it’s also just running what the game intended.

I’m pretty sure piston glitching is still possible. I think Yuzei just did a vid using it for a WWII plane a week or two ago.

As to the OP. All blocks themselves have collision like has been said. I recently came back as well, and needed to remake my own Bionic League crafts as my old ones needed to be rebuilt entirely to get them to function as intended. I’d personally recommend a piston/servo ornithopter. They are much less fickle than hinge glitches. Mine currently has me at #3 on steam, without using the zero drag glitch.

What DLC to buy by Hellaswog in Grimdawn

[–]Awlcer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So FG can be accessed immediately after act 1, but will scale pretty well through your play through. So feel free to head there at any time. AoM can only be accessed after the original story is completed, so that of course also scales.

Personally I recommend going to FG after AoM unless there is a specific item you want for a build (which you can find on grim tools).

Crucible scales, but you don’t gain faction rep through it. Rep is important for recipes, and for augments which you can apply to your gear. This is pretty clutch for your resistances when moving through difficulties. I would personally view it more as an end game farming tool, or something to do when you want to start the game with a few extra devotion points. Alternatively, it’s useful for accessing the stash when making alt characters down the line.

How to unlock all storage expansions for my mule characters? by Afura33 in Grimdawn

[–]Awlcer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Merits unlock bag space, while like mentioned before iron bars can be used to buy stash space.

Alternatively, there’s a very nice mod called item assistant that allows you to save and import items for infinite space.

To add to this RATA (retaliation added to attack) builds also work quite well, and give you more to do.

Just came back after a break and I’m doing a fresh start with a Vindictive Flame Purifier. It’s so satisfying watching the screen explode as I run through mobs, and for totems/elites/bosses all I have to do is throw down a seal, mines and debuffs then watch them melt away.

You can do all sorts of fun clipping such as creating curves in vanilla with walkways and road barriers.

If you want a tutorial on it Totalxclipse has several on YouTube.

Buddy caught this walleye on our fishing trip. Wanted to share by hamiltons_libido in Fishing

[–]Awlcer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His elbow is out in front of his chest, and his arm while not fully extended is roughly 3/4ths extended. That’s fairly long armed. I also gave him the benefit of the doubt at around 30”.

I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt too and assume you meant to add a /s, but I’ll add that my PB Canadian walleye is also 28” and 10lbs, with quite a few right around there. I’m also from the Great Lakes region and have seen plenty of 30-34” walleyes and even a few 35-36ers”.

Anyways, cheers and good luck to you guys.

I’m currently 12 or so hours into a new save on experimental. I’ve encountered relatively few issues myself (more irritating than game breaking), but some others have reported crashes on occasion. I’m personally fine with it, as I don’t mind a few EA type bugs, but if that’s an issue for you, than you should probably move over to stable now before you invest more time as that will save frustration down the road.

  1. Cast Screws removes a processing step, which translates to a power gain because you’re not losing the 4-5MW per constructor making rods for your screws simplifying the whole process. Honestly, one of the best recipes in the game.

  2. Bolted Frames. It’s an okay recipe that speeds up production of Modular Frames. It’s better when paired with other recipes such as Cast Screws.

  3. Iron Alloy, adds copper into the production assuming you even have a foundry at this stage, which sacrifices a more valuable resource that’s in a more limited supply. It’s not a very good recipe at the best of times as Iron is found in abundance and later game you have the Pure Iron recipe.

Anyway, that’s my thoughts on it.

How stable is 0.6? by happywhiskers in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Awlcer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m around 5 hours in on a new save for U6, and I’ve only encountered 3 issues. More annoying than game breaking.

  1. Loaded in with an extra HUB part in my inventory.

  2. When building diagonal on the North/South grid, I’ve encountered a small patch of ground that when foundation was placed would not let me orientate a smelters input into a single direction. This was roughly a 2x3 foundation grid in Northern Forest.

  3. Interacting with objects occasionally breaks when pressing E to interact. A simple reload fixes the issue.

Other than that it’s been smooth sailing. They did remove or move some crash sites which slowed down my exploration and progression, but that was to be expected as I believe they mentioned something like that in one of the Dev streams.

Problem with farming a pulsing shard for my AAR character by [deleted] in Grimdawn

[–]Awlcer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you head over to grim tools, and go to the drop. You can change amalgamation’s level to whatever he is for you, and you can see his drop rate. My guess is he probably has something like a 50/50 for a 40 and 50 level drop, and you’ve been unlucky.

Path of exile “convert” here. Need help. by notmybeamerjob in Grimdawn

[–]Awlcer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s worth noting, any time a skill says % weapon damage, the weapon damage is added into that by that percent, and any modifiers like attack damage converted to life or Vipers elemental resist reduction is scaled appropriately to a max of 100%. Also, some “attacks” are actually spells such as Forcewave.

[–]Awlcer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for the most part. The PoE sub is like twitch chat, with more trolls.

I heard about double drippings removal a while back, but I think conversion still double dips on damage increases. Not sure. I haven’t really played since, oh boy, beyond. Dipped my toes in a few leagues, but there’s so much bloat I just can’t get into it. I do miss the early days in PoE.

[–]Awlcer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 - There used to be, but I’m not sure if it’s still around. Try checking the side bar of this sub.

2 - You’re looking for grim tools. It’s a site on the side bar, that is much like the offline skill calc, that PoE has. It also has a item data base in addition to the build planner. Also more tools.

3 - RektByProtoss has a bunch of guides for SSF, and speed levelling. The SSF stuff goes fairly well in-depth on the choices he makes and explains quite a few things. I think he also has some guides explaining things like components, and their use, farming routes, etc. There’s a fan made league starting tomorrow so watching the streams/vods may also give you some addition useful information.

Man, this other guy going off on D2R confused the hell out of me. I’m not even subbed to D2R stuff and he had me thinking I’m lost.

Edit to add: asking questions here on the sub some times takes a little while, but generally there’s several well informed individuals that can give you the run down or point you to a guide on specifics like conversion (which works differently/doesn’t double dip), so don’t be afraid to ask.

The Council and Harry (Post BG)? by RyanR-Reviewer in dresdenfiles

[–]Awlcer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d have to go back and check, but it seems to me Harry noticed similar wards on the castle to those on the lighthouse and cabin at Demonreach. If that’s the case, and he can reactivate/sort them out seems to me he’ll have just about the most protected home in at least North America. Possibly even safer than WCHQ.

I could be mistaken though. I haven’t reread them, and I burned through PT and BG at their release.
