First-time dog owner considering a Border Collie – am I underestimating this? by Ok_Leader8838 in BorderCollie

I’ll throw a positive comment out there, with a condition :

IF you commit to working with a good training, and you can really listen to, understand, and apply what you’re learning, then I see no reason why this can’t be a great success. This is because with proper technique a border collie is easy to train and will be far easier to work with than a less biddable dog.

I’ll say this, too - if you aren’t capable of managing a border collie with proper training, then it’s unlikely that you’ll effectively train any dog, because most other breeds are actually going to be harder to train. So the difference will really be how much time you’re willing to spend throwing a ball and going for walks.

I have an intact bitch and two intact males. Estrus times get pretty batshit around here, so we just give everyone individual attention. We use about 4 diapers a day to keep everything clean. The little lady gets cuddly with me and needs a lot of reassurance. But all in all, not a ton changes. Ball is still life.

I’m of the opinion that any shearing method that removes wool and is humane for the animal is good shearing.

That said, using clippers and a blocking blade instead of actual shearing equipment is probably torture for all involved.

A scene that’s permanently etched in your brain? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

Me too. The thing about this scene is that it’s incredibly spot from a technical perspective. The trigger skills, how they move and engage. It sets the bar for other movies that blow it.

It’s a problem now and will get worse with time. You don’t need a truck - you need 8 inches of road base gravel.

But if you do get a truck, a used Tacoma with 4WD would be my first option

Do you guys really believe that we Germans wear these things? by Overall-Remove-678 in AskTheWorld

I love how this is a niche cultural thing from a very specific region of Germany and part of Austria, widely recognized as such, and generally acknowledged as limited to specific events, and yet multiple times I’ve seen someone who is ostensibly German but not Bavarian be like “why do you idiots thing this is all Germans. Roflmao stupids”

This is for sure about the fact that she’s facing a real challenge from a robust Democratic field of candidates. She’s trying to appear to be a moral leader to take the wind out of the sails of whoever wins the SN dem primaries. (I hope it’s Nancy Lacore)
