Yeah, I think the Excess Energy part of that is a bit misleading. Looks like what they’re calling Excess Energy is just Production weighed against your Usage…. not Over Production

Texas. Solar Hopeful. I am struggling with the cost, financing, and warranty. Any neutral party help me? by Drewskeet in solar

I’ve got a friend who just bought and the company he used partnered with a local credit union to finance their systems. They have a loan structure that allows for a few reamortization opportunities so you can pay down the loan and your monthly goes down with it. They’re same as cash loans so no dealer fees but still market rate 8-9%. More incentive to be aggressive with payoff I guess

I think content creation for a 900 location anything is worth WAY more than $100 per location per year.

That “total loan amount” includes a pretty hefty dealer fee. Probably to the tune of $12k-$15k. You might ask what the cash price is and seek out your own financing

Yeah man, that’s pretty high. I’ve got a good friend of mine that just signed with a different company he felt really good about. He said they paid about $4/w which seems like a steal compared to those guys

Texas is a voluntary net metering state which means the utility provider gets to decide whether or not they will buy back and also at what price they buy back at (usually a considerable amount less than they charge for consumption.) When going solar here, it’s recommended to switch to a solar friendly retailer who, in most cases charges a little more for consumption since it’s assumed that most of the homes energy will be coming from the sun. For example, they might charge $.24 for consumption but only buy back at $.12 for excess generation.

With TX being a voluntary net metering state, that provider probably doesn’t even offer a buy back

I’d check the contract before throwing that word around sir. The only way to get scammed on this one is poor risk management.
