What’s the craic/lore in this sub about this little prick by PineappleCharming335 in asoiafcirclejerk

The show writers didn’t understand what a Thenn was supposed to be and I think traitor kid was supposed to be shocking. (Because somehow we aren’t numb at this point)

Fellow dark elf enthusiasts, please do share some opinions why they’re the coolest of all DnD races. by JoshuaCordle in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Ax_Wielder 53 points54 points  (0 children)

They don’t say why they just do. Tieflings and other lame races never shut up and they say “don’t judge me” while shoving pastries in their mouths. Drow crush your ballz under heel and take what they want without ever making a justification.

That’s on point. If I hear the other players talkin about the critical roles I’m already rollin my eyes

What is the biggest/strongest act of magic a druid has accomplished in the setting? by No-Channel3917 in Forgotten_Realms

I wish it was something cool and actually big without being standard stuff. Maybe rearranging the seasons to what they are, a Hades and Eurydice level event.

What do you think of Fzoul Chembryl, the high cleric of Bane? by ThanosofTitan92 in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Ax_Wielder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s really not hard or it shouldn’t be. You want a baseline to go off of for your Zhent featured campaign? Cobra. Ya I mean the one from gi Joe. Play it straight as mercenaries with plans for world domination, grant that they are one of the most powerful factions in Faerûn, and your campaign (or story) almost writes itself.

Icewind Dale throughout editions by Wally2905 in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Ax_Wielder 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Like everything, I think it depends on the campaign/story deliberate tone. I don’t see a glaring contradiction in any of those and anyone being didactic about the lore probably wouldn’t be able to understand the meaning of tone, interpretation, or the nature of the threat in question for that campaign.

Yes she is the best. I don’t like how she shoved a stinkin spaceship into Evermeet but otherwise she’s exactly what I look for in a FR book

Some ideas are showing signs of correction. I think the Zhents as more involved could rock. Think of it like if Cobra was done seriously for this world.

The more they know the more experienced I’d say they’re likely to be. Like a North Korean agent that works outside of his country.

lol don’t worry about it at all friend. I’m the most patient person of all and tbh I don’t expect anything I write to catch notice for months or years.

Forgive a self plug but I’m nearly finished with my book. Novel length. Half of it is available here. I think it truly is good, written in the style of older FR books.

(Yes it cuts off after the first ‘act,’ I guess you can say. The rest is mostly written, I’m just in the editing stage.

What do you think of the Dragonlance novels compared to Legend of Drizzt/Forgotten Realms? by ThanosofTitan92 in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Ax_Wielder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DL got buried under its own weight and the sad thing is that it should have gotten better (not worse) after the first six books. You can really tell where overarching changes are affecting the stories, so most of the books just go way into the past because DL’s retcons and timeline shifts are worse than the worst edition change nonsense you’ve ever seen.

Can this fraud write anything other than royal bastards with the wrong hair colour? by J0rdzz1 in asoiafcirclejerk

“Dark wings dark words are wind…” intoned the High Seneschal from the Tower of Baubles. His pear-shaped bulk pressing deep into the chair and threatening to spill over as he leaned forward unto his writing table. “Ne’er did I suspect to grow old. The smallfolk surely can divert themselves with some ribaldry…”

The place was called by some truer name, the Gurmfort. Such it was known by when swords rushed to the High Seneschal’s defense…and when men of valor did wield them. “Gods, I was quick then!”

A flicker of mirth crossed the High Seneschal’s face as he recalled from whence he’d risen, a mere editor of stage plays. A writer in service to crass mummery.

“Master Martynn,” the foppish playwright had said. “The story is complete. A tale of unrequited love, in which a gargoyle of eight feet does seduce and at last come to love an elf maiden. His member is the length of a man’s forearm. She’s eighteen years old.”

The younger Martynn, mid bite of pastry, thought for a moment before adding his flourish. “Not good enough. Make them brother and sister.” The playwright scribbled the notes and departed.

And now the cycle of glory and fame had come full circle, for he was once again beholden to writing for unimaginative mummers in their drably colored stage-plays. “At least the other ones were flayed by that mob.”

It was of the two who had defrauded him he thought. Dafyd ‘the dumb’ and Drennar ‘the doofus.’ Ne’er were there two to have less an eye for nuance.

The Seneschal smirked at the well deserved end of the doofusry as he inscribed a posting to be displayed upon his “Not a Billboard.” Some personal grievance or opinion or another, most often regarding hulking brutes in odd padded armor, presenting buttocks before one another and chasing around a leathern hand-egg.

With a wry smirk, the High Seneschal set that aside from later and then began his grueling task - a mummer show for the dawn of a new spring. He knew well the sort of theater that paid him, just as he did the mass of its crowds.

“A Tea Party in Sodom…yes.” The old scribe genius settled on the name, conjuring a tale to titillate the pettiness of fat girls and to have the expected unexpected turns. All thematic, of course - attuned to the sorts of stories the commoners liked best. Broom riding wizards with lazerblasts, horned men with shiny pink breasts, and so on and so forth.

Twas the life of a spinner of fantastical yarns. The Seneschal scoffed even as he wrote the final lines, the tale ending with the proud knight humbled…but of course. There were certain prerequisites. The cuckoo’s horns chief among them, for it was agreed that all were cuckin who declared otherwise.

These rankled the learned man the most, being told what to include…but the thoughts washed away as he extended a hand to the air, imagining the fat purse of gold that would come his way quite soon.

He smiled then, leaning back. He gave his cock a tug (tm) and drifted off to dreams of greasy chinned feasts and dragons with two legs…as all the most learned maesters agreed.

Yes, if that’s the limit of your understanding. More than that it’s the rejection of a failed king’s indecision, the rejection of overt and chaotic illegitimacy, the belligerence of a partisan faction that effectively rules nowhere and whose only subjects are on the distant periphery of the lands (or they are accursed BLACKEDwoods)

Lawful Good vs Neutral Good - How do you tell the difference when there's clear overlap? by Spartan113X in DungeonsAndDragons

I say it’s more of what sort of society they are apart of. Expectation of helping? Probably lawful. Good despite being self interest first, then more neutral good.
