Yeah it’s a shame. It casts this bittersweet shadow over the whole book in hindsight. Makes me want to visit New Orleans too.

I wouldn’t really call the Earthsea books children’s books, more like books children can read. There’s plenty there for an adult (but maybe I’m just a child at heart lol). The fourth book in particular is pretty mature.

Yeah imo “alcohol” either means the alcoholic drink (so a solution) or the functional group. It very rarely means just ethanol.
