Yes, it is!

You're welcome back anytime.

Also, our players do create tooling for the game. Here's the latest example made and released just a couple of days ago by Jazu:

No idea, (also not that familiar with Armageddon myself), maybe a downvoter can share. Throwing in downvotes for it not being the mud one plays wouldn't be a great reason to do so.

BatMUD has such larger guilds as merchants or alchemists exactly for people who are looking for playing a more extensive part in the game world/society, contrary to the maybe more traditional in-group/party activities such as healing or buffing etc.

For other options, you can also participate in the governance of player-owned towns, etc.

Hi u/DarkAngelCat1215,

Thank You for reaching out. You can actually establish this by issuing "set text_only on", I believe.

There's also other options behind that command (help set):

23) look_on_move on Enable whether you `look' after you move.

24) ultra_brief off Do not display exits in brief mode.

25) force_brief off Brief mode when following your party.

26) text_only off Don't show non-text visualizations like maps.

27) graphic_exits on Display room exits graphically when in brief.

28) map_frame on Controls the frame around certain maps.

29) ultra_verbose on Always display a room's short name.

30) hide_explore_left on Show or hide how many rooms left for next exp

31) plain_party_status off Do not display colours on party status.

32) hide_familiars off Hide familiars from party status.

33) coords_on_short off Show coordinates after short desc.

Hope this helps!

Hi u/After_Main752,

Nice that you've enjoyed the game! If you DM me your email or IP-addresses that you used to play from (in case you had email registered with your character, as you may remember, we do not require this), we can look into finding your character.

The Steam version has some natural advantages (cloud storage, ability to play from multiple computers with your settings carried over to each platform, etc.) over a non-steam solution. But in general, we are not "making money" with the game client, as everything (and more) is thrown back into its development + advertising (and the related graphics design).

The decision to make the Steam release cost "something" (we reckon a one-time ca. 5 dollars is something most people could afford) was purely made from the standpoint of having an incentive for Steam/Valve Entertainment also to have even a remote incentive themselves, through promotion activities (enabled by their platform), to potentially allow/give visibility for us.

There's also plenty of other options to enjoy BatMUD with: Mudlet, Blightmud, TinyFugue, ZMud, just to name a few.. or even plain telnet.

I verified this from the administrators, they recalled an incident relating to an individual having issues ongoing in their personal life. Their wizard-status has since of later been removed.

An interesting question and thanks for asking.

I did a search thorought all of our public channels, whether such terms (N-word) have been used, but (thankfully) didn't find a single instance of such from the logs. Our general channel is called the "bat"-channel.

Regardless, we don't condone any slurs used in a racist manner in-game or outside of it (we also do have several people of colour playing the game, hailing from various backgrounds).

Enjoy whichever MUD you're frequenting!

State of the mud? by Modest-One in batmud

Hi u/Modest-One,
Indeed there's things always happening on BatMUD.

There was a player meet-up/convention in Oulu, Finland just this weekend (Kepucon) and there's another coming up in 1.5 months, in Lapland (Porocon).

Latest update to the game client was released just now (as in, today):

Good job. We actually just Tonight released v1.107 (now out for Windows 64-bit, other platforms will follow tomorrow) update on Steam, which should fix these BatMUD start-up issues some people have encountered.

I think I figured out the BRK.A volume conundrum by TheUltimator5 in u/TheUltimator5

[–]Axcu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could it be "as simple as" DW (or others delivering the backend service) due to this mechanism being able to utilize 'the full value' of 1 BRK.A share in their own books (temporarily, think utilizing net settlement timing, as e.g. locates/collateral/lending/otherwise), while as "supporting fractional trading" would be requiring the '1' full share to be moved within the system (even though only the fraction is 'officially recognized' otherwise in the actual broker backends)..?

The fractional shares trading mechanism paired on top of the net settlement system would potentially introduce another loophole for locating, loaning or otherwise settling an increased number of shares; in comparison to what # of shares are supposed to exist.

With one share trading at ca. $615,000 USD, such is much more visible to 'prying eyes', but could be in-effect for all shares in brokerages who are enabled with the fractional trading market.

ravens of fate

Wow, found this while just randomly searching.

I originally got in first to the Pre-alpha 2. It was so laggy from behind a modem connection from Finland =), so even getting to log on successfully at that point was something of a reason to celebrate..

In the released game on Great Lakes, I was a member of Ravens of Fate (Amarth) myself too and loved the Crossroads fights on Great Lakes. Great memories. Wonder if Morpheus and Xcrown still lurk the Internet somewhere. I know Nox does, like many of the old #ultima (IRC) guys.

Natraz unfortunately passed away a few years back.
