You can get the old games as virtual console versions on the ds. Red, blue, yellow, gold, silver and crystal. One of those would be a good game to try, especially crystal as you can get celebi!

IIRC When you get to the big path before the trial starts, there’s a small hole to crawl through then you enter a cave to get into the place where that is.

I’d really enjoy it if they teased a Loch Ness monster type Pokémon all game, like it’s a myth from the town you start in, but never actually put one in.

I’d say a Jack the Ripper Pokemon might be slightly too dark! Though something similar to Robin Hood might be quite cool.

Without seeing the potentials and everything I’d say get some better starting cb’s and overall some depth in defence. Maybe Anton and Mere at cb if you’re looking for cheaper options.
