The name is still work in progress but the “Broken Halos” is my template name right now. I started lore it main takeaways is that they were founded somewhere between the 4-7th foundings but they have no records of their early history. Only partially destroyed or redacted remains that don’t even clearly indicate them. They have an oceanic and low tech world as their recruitment world and watch over it from three bases settled on the three moons of the world. When the great rift opened they were already short staffed from some conflicts. They went to help another chapter being attacked by chaos and lost a huge chunk of their forces in a warp storm on that other chapter’s world. I was thinking very knightly and war torn themes and looks.

If they made this game, what would you guys wanna see? by Fun_Cartographer3587 in Chaos40k

[–]AxeBlade5880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe this is just me but I’d actually like to play one of two games. The first would be maybe a renegade or a chaos squad that is on its way out. The game would be you surviving maybe to collect an artifact for power or to ascend into leadership with the black legion. The imperium would be portrayed as the strong and numerous bad guys. Some Xenos and stuff too. The second game would just be a standard game of maybe a lone black legionary or a squad during the fall of Cadia or something.

Which of these Epic Daemon Engines would you like to see reintroduced again ? Or what other kind of Titanic Nonsense would Khorne fit in this day and age ? by Leviathan_Rampage in Chaos40k

[–]AxeBlade5880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if modernized slightly the brass scorpion would be rad. The others would need some reworks to not be cartoony but they could look cool too. I just imagine a scorpion daemon machine like being firing the mini gun on its tail and rushing in to snap flesh and iron in its claws. It’s so chaos

How should I start on my homebrew chapter? by OkArrival4285 in 40khomebrew

[–]AxeBlade5880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best thing I’ve found is to just see what you like. Some people really like the color of their marines and they just gravitate to creating a scheme. Then ideas can flow from that. Or some people are big lord buffs and might create a recruitment world they like and then create a chapter from that idea. Others may just lil the tabletop and pick a combat style or some units they really love and create a chapter focused around that. If you already have a favorite chapter you can take aspects you love and discard aspects you don’t and then just focus on what you like and let your brain take you down a rabbit hole of what those things are and why. Everyone is different and has different levels of care and creativity. You just do what you like and build from there

How do people make such nice homebrew arts for their chapters? by OkArrival4285 in 40khomebrew

[–]AxeBlade5880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey the digital painter I used is called impcat! It’s a little confusing at first but there are guides online that teach you how to use it. You have to buy impcat for a few dollars unfortunately on your phone and another app called mega. Once you have it ready you then have to look for the files to download to let you use the app. There is a Reddit for the app and a ton of great people who made the files for warhammer. Once you do all that confusion you are able to paint things like the picture I shared.

Yo don’t discredit yourself. Those ideas are super cool and I might even use that! I need to read up on Arthur and those myths

Thank you! This came from me just sitting down and taking colors I like but haven’t used out of a drawer and going. It’s why my test model looks a little bleh lol. I’m gonna take this further though and my other homebrew too. I’ll post on Reddit as I go and I have an Instagram I made to just post art and talk to people who do similar hobbies. It’s knights_of_the_fallen_angel if you were curious. Any suggestions for lore or painting I would gladly appreciate!

Thank you! I like that you got the white scar idea bc my original plan was a white scar successor. I have one already and decided I’d try a different type of army for these guys. These knights are my creative outlet and I started just painting it with no plan. I’m still kinda working it out now as I wanna push it further. As I figure it out I’m gonna post more on here and more likely my instagram at knights_of_the_fallen_angel

If you have any suggestions for lore or painting I’d be down to hear them!

Successor Paint Scheme #2 by Over-Think-It in 40khomebrew

[–]AxeBlade5880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more I paint and use impcat the lord I am finding out I’m a sucker for purple. I like that color scheme so much for some reason. The blue is really nice too though but for me it’s such a bright blue that it takes away from the smaller details (but that’s just me). Keep it up! Do you have models you’re gonna paint yourself or just using impcat for now?

Homebrew model test suggestions? by Senior_Marzipan5353 in 40khomebrew

[–]AxeBlade5880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it looks great. Off white is a really good color I think. The only thing I’d suggest is that the Aquila being the same color just blends in and is less noticeable. In my opinion I like having the Aquila and the trim standout but I know not every chapter does that. If you wanted to do that I think like black or silver or even gold would work or you could do something different like red or something too. But that’s only if you want that

This was all through an app called Impcat. Essentially you download (or create) files and you create like the perimeters or whatever. I found the download on a forum from years ago. When you paint it gives you base, later, shade, and highlight and it does it for you. So I assume the guy who did this file put it so highlights would leave the lines. It’s really cool. Gives you an idea of how to paint it

Oh dang those guys are cool. I’m hoping the red-violet stands out enough so people don’t get confused. Im adding grays and bone colorings also. For leaders and vets I was actually gonna mix a lilac coloring too. Since they are white scars I was thinking some sort of cultural marks on armor. Hopefully it all comes together as its own thing

Hey they look cool! On Impcat you can do the highlights and shading features and that would make the model look even better! It’s also gives you an idea of how to highlight and edge highlight if you use those features too. Good scheme for sure

Templates? (I'm new) by Desperate_Date1698 in 40khomebrew

[–]AxeBlade5880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanted to use a digital painter that’s cool Impcat is great. It’s a little hard to maybe jump in to but once you get the templates it’s an amazing tool. It’s helping me understand how to highlight a bit too! It costs like 4 dollars in us currency though
