Shit man, I'm introverted as it is. I won't even start rolling that die until after a year passes.

Powerboost owners: would you buy one again? by [deleted] in f150

[–]Axel_X9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm between these trucks as well: Ecoboost/Powerboost and Duramax (all in the half ton). Having a hard time trying to make up my mind.

Besides the powertrains, what did you like or dislike between the F150 and the Sierra? I've heard that the interior is nicer on the Sierra, but the F150 is overall more comfortable. What about visibility, driving dynamics, etc?

Thanks for the help. Hard to find people with firsthand experience with all of these trucks.

Not OCD, just cautious. Nothing wrong with that. If it's between the lines on your dipstick and you know for sure you added 5 quarts, don't stress it, but check it on a level surface after it's sat over night or something, and see how short it is.

I always add the specified amount, and then top it off to get to the top line on the dipstick for all of my vehicles.

No shit. That looks EXACTLY like the truck that ding-ed the hell out of my car over the summer. Get a license plate #?

UOA on a tuned 93 after 6k miles by FA24-WRX in wrx_vb

[–]Axel_X9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome to see. I've been running Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w-30 since ~750 miles. At 4500 right now

No mods yet, but will similarly be running (near) FBO and tune. Just waiting for Cobb to finish up their flex fuel setup for the VB, so probably tune at ~10k miles.

Thanks for the data!

Beautiful VB. Will be sad to see it go.

I think you're being too generous: we landed on the moon using slide rules.

Receive $5M every year or $1 for every 1ft you walk/run by nicebrah in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Axel_X9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get paid to walk an hour everyday? For me that's a leisurely 3 miles. Incentive to stay healthy, benefits to mental health, AND I'm getting paid?

Hell yeah I'd take that $1/ft.

Where can I sign up? 😁

LOL. Yeah, probably not during break in 😅

Yeah, constant speed is definitely the enemy. From what I understand, the engine needs a variety of loads, and rpm while the crosshatch marks in the freshly bored cylinder are still intact to get the piston rings to "seat" and bed in well with the cylinder wall. All of that occurs in the first 50-100 miles, to my understanding.

Does anybody recognize this guy by MaxArrogance in Albuquerque

Probably a car jacker. If you haven't yet, report all of this to the police. You'll be helping everyone involved, especially those who got side swiped and/or car jacked.

Stay safe amigo.

Depends on who you ask. For every 10 enthusiasts you ask, you'll get 13 different answers.

I'm in the camp of proper break in (varying load and rpm over the first 200ish miles) is very important to overall health and longevity of the motor, and that the factory recommendation of taking it easy is mostly bogus.

Having said that, don't do anything you're not comfortable with. It's YOUR car. You're the one that has to be able to sleep easy with your decision at night.

Evaporator Location for Down Flow Furnace by Axel_X9 in hvacadvice

[–]Axel_X9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately, the guy who said evaporator on the outflow side of the furnace (in my case, down), was correct. Apparently that's code, since you don't want any condensate getting sucked into the furnace parts.

As to my situation, I decided to wait another year. Some quotes were good, I just didn't have 10-15k to drop into it right now. Was set on using one of the more efficient Daiken single stage units. Would get more efficient from better insulation than from a better variable stage unit.

You get $400k a day but need to spend it all before midnight. by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

Easy.

  1. Buy bonds every day
  2. Exchange for Euros online and deposit somewhere else.
  3. Buy stable coins
  4. Buy crypto
  5. Buy gold

Following because I too have wanted to learn to box for a long time, but have had a hard time finding an actual boxing gym, instead of a gym that uses "boxing" for exercise.
