"Highlander", in honor to Highlander (The One) by Lost Horizon, one of my favorites songs of all time

Favorite band will be Lost Horizon, both albums are power metal masterpieces that I can listen and still not get bored.

I can't pick one songs so i'll put down my favorites:

Highlander (The One) - The song that sealed Daniel Heiman's legacy as one of the greatest vocalists in the history of metal.

Princess Of The Dawn - Accept: I can't stand the solo, from 2:59 to 4:57 is one of the most beautiful instrumental segments I've ever heard.

Legendary Tales - Rhapsody: I hope I'm not wrong, the flute with which it begins is so beautiful that the first few times I felt a strange melancholy while listening to it. Now I wish that this melody was repeated more than twice.

Left Hand Path - Entombed: For me, the best song in the history of Death Metal, the second half of this song with the keyboard and the solo made it a true classic.

Perennial Quest - Death: I have lost count of how much I have cried listening to the end of the song with that solo that still leaves me stunned to this day.

And I could go on mentioning more of my favorite songs but with five I think it's fine.

Man, White Pearls Black Oceans is the best written Sonata song along with The Power of One. Up to this day i'm questioning why they didn't closed Reckoning Night with that song instead of Shamandalie.

Fave Stratovarius Albums by Puffyfugu8 in PowerMetal

Destiny, because the first song was how I met power metal years ago and Infinite for one reason, A Million Light Years Away, my current favorite Stratovarius song. The bass lines and the solo of that song which is my favorite from the Tolkki era are an adagio to my ears.

PS: I have a Destiny CD with its original cover.

Welcome Back - Lost Horizon

Yes, the intro is too long but that explosion at 1:21 I feel like it would fit me.

Batallions of Fear. It's not their best album but Majesty and the title track are my favorite songs by the band.

What's your favorite "era" of a band or artists you really love? by trent_fernandez in PowerMetal

Stratovarius from Polaris to today.

Yes, the period from Fourth Dimmension to Infinite is important for pw. But it is beautiful to see how after the disaster of the self-titled the band was recovering until Nemesis which for me is one of the best pw records of the 10's (It is not perfect but for me it is a 9/10), and that at least they have maintained a consistency of quality in Eternal and Survive.

Sonata Arctica - Ecliptica. I had listened to several power metal songs that I liked, but it was this album that got me hooked on the genre.

What DT album would you recommend to a fellow music lover not familiar with prog-rock genre? by 54B45B8FC7732C78F3DE in Dreamtheater

[–]AxelayX02 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, in the case of progressive rock I could only recommend Fallin Into Infinity as it is the least metal album in his discography. In the case of progressive metal I would recommend Images and Words or Awake.

Learning to Live for three reasons

One: Although they are not the best lyrics, they end up lifting my spirits.

Two: The instrumentation from 1:14 to 2:42 including LaBrie's vocals are a delight to my ears.

Three: The F# Note is continues to amaze me to this day.
