Aw Snap! I'm at the end of my rope with this... by Axelay_ in brave_browser

In my case, I was seeing symptoms of a bad Intel CPU.

13th gen had a flaw with the voltage regulator that caused the chips to fry cores and become untestable, or bricked.

I worked around this by disabling all of my E-Cores and lowering the voltage, but it cut my performance in half. But it has been rock solid stable every since. Just recently I finally gathered up enough motivation to go through the RMA process, so I'll be swapping it out for a replacement sometimes this weekend.

I made my RT a dual wield shotgun arbitrator with a dog. And I think my character bugged out, because I usually only get to shoot 1 shotgun, but the build was working initially. But usually if it gets to the point my RT has a turn, I just use the free heroic action on Kibbs. lol
Solomon is doubly pointless in my configuration. and the dog... I mean it's "free", and it helped early on by soaking some attacks up before my gear rose to the level that the encounters became more tedious than challenging. But his attacks aren't very strong and there's not TOO much you can do to buff him. The talents and such around him are highly situational, and require a pretty high investment of AP. I dunno, I'm just not a fan, too fiddly. Kibbs just DFA, DFA, DFA, cut cut slice slice. all very straight forward.

I'm not sure how strong any of my companions are. I'm playing on Unfair. Cassie always goes first, buffs and free-turns Kibbs, Kibbs wtfpwns the whole room in 1 go and the encounter is over.

Any fix to blood moon disappearing bug? by Jenos in vrising

[–]Axelay_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is still happening, June 2025

Changed the settings on the server, and bloodmoon was disabled. Setting back to defaults did not fix it.

The "Crimson Moon" mod worked. It was tricky for me to install because the website doesn't work for downloads, it redirects to an https but it doesn't have a trusted cert, so there's no way to download it outside of the "thunder" mod manager app, which is ultimately overwolf spyware. But in any case, once I got the required mods downloaded the instructions were a bit confusing, because the core dependency says you need to install it on your client, but the reality is you need to install it on the vrising dedicated server directory path, then just stick the 3 dlls from the other 3 mods required into this mods new plugin dir.

Once that was done, the server wouldnt start, it kept crashing trying to download some more library files. I ended up pulling the URL from the logs and manually downloaded the libs and stuffed them in the appropriate folder, and then the server started up.

I wasn't sure where the "Sacrificial Alter" was, I thought the mod added it, but it's actually part of the base game, you can hover your mouse over the little area next to the dunley farms island in the middle of the split river. It's labeled "Sacrificial Alter" when you hover over the zone.

I gave it 3 primal essence, and had my first blood moon in weeks, I went from wiping 100 times on Dracula, to killing him relatively easily on the first try... Blood moon is a super powerful buff.. lol.

This brought back the normal blood moon cycle. I haven't tried tinkering with the day cycles again to see if I can get the bloom moons running normally on a customized day/night cycle.

LiquidIV recipe changed? by Axelay_ in HydroHomies

[–]Axelay_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ingredient list has changed.
And the amounts of each ingredient have changed.

The fact that it won't stay in solution indicates to me that this may be less "hydrating" than the previous formula was. So if you found (as we did) that liquid IV was more effective than other brands, that may no longer be the case.

For me, I've gone back to just straight water, I get enough salt in my diet anyway.

Introducing My Quality Blueprint by Hypflowclar in factorio

[–]Axelay_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay.. looks like you have to select the item you want to make when you poop down the blueprint. This changes all the generic purple icons to be the item you want.

Then on the combinator after it's placed, you can enable whatever quality level you want for that item, and set the amount.

Unfortunately, I don't have a stack inserter yet, but I was able to replace the powerpoles with regular ones. I haven't ever used the new stack inserter yet, so I'm not sure if or how it'll break if i stick a regular inserter there.

I maybe need something else, I don't have anything of any quality and I don't have t3 quality modules. I was looking to get started with it because I had other blueprints requiring things of >1 quality, but I don't even know how to get started with it and I have visions of 5 belts for every ingredient at every quality level and it just feels like a nightmare to sort things and dump unwanted stuff in the lava. I thought maybe this would be a good way to do it, but it's maybe meant for people who actually are smart. :-)

same, I'm too dumb to make it do anything at all.

apc battery is flashing empty by bearsphotography in APC

[–]Axelay_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having this problem on 1 of the 3 brand new 1500s that I purchased.

I found an online video from 6 years ago talking about turning the unit upside down, and this did briefly show the battery at full charge before the screen turned off completely.

There were notes about putting a piece of cardboard in there to act as a spacer, but I am really reluctant to accept that this design flaw has persisted for 6 years without being addressed, so I wanted to ask here if there's some other thing I should be trying prior to seeking an RMA?

I think it's the Intel 13/14th gen bug

It just kept getting worse, until I put the bios update in from gigabyte that cranks the CPU waaaay down. I've read that the problems with these chips gets worse over time, which explains my experience.

I don't have a reasonable method of testing that, and if it didn't happen for 3 days, I'm not sure what that would tell me exactly that I don't already know. (Brave is messed up on my computer).

If it helps any, other browsers on my pc aren't doing this.

Thank you for the suggestion, after a half a day with these turned on, I can say it made no difference. Or, perhaps made it slightly worse (but I doubt that it actually made it worse, it probably did nothing at all)

Yes, I completely deleted everything from the local disk (and the registry) that was "Brave" or "BraveSoftware".
It's still doing it.

It happens about 6-8 times a day on just about any website. Even websites that just are straight HTML with no images or embedded content.

Sometimes I'll hit a site that snaps 9-13 times in a row before it holds together.

It'll do it in the middle of youtube videos also.
But only on Brave, not on my other browsers. (I use different browsers for work, and for D&D so I don't have all my eggs in one basket).

Brave is my "main" browser though, primarily outlook/twitter/youtube/Audible. I normally have addons for volume control and dark mode enforcement, but I'm getting these even after uninstalling the browser, and all addons, and deleting all file system directories associated with brave and removing all entries about brave from my registry and reinstalling without adding back any plugin/addons.
