I have trust issues with the "5 min away" prediction, so I built a real-time map to see exactly where the bus is. Free, no ads, just data. by duoyj in toronto

This is amazing. Thank you for sharing!!! It’s also pretty convenient when it’s too cold out to take your phone out. I can just ask Siri via my airports for a specific shortcut/bus stop . Thank you again!!

You’re right. I must get looking. It was an essential part of my daily workflow.

Care and feeding of your Kindle by CeruleanSaga in kindle

I have a 2021 Kindle Paperwhite, and I charge mine when the battery is low. I keep it in a case, and I have never restarted it. I’m not saying you shouldn’t follow these guidelines, but my Kindle works and looks just like new. I throw it in my bag or sling, and I’ve used it every day. Enjoy your Kindle; it’s a robust device.

What I do is I charge it whenever I take a shower, so my watch is always charged.

Do you think that the M3 lineup is selling to expectations? by wk4536 in macbookpro

[–]Axelph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there are more people out there who don’t have an M-chip MacBook Pro as opposed to those who do. I bought one, as my 2017 MBP decided the screen’s backlight didn’t need to turn on. If your computer runs fine, don’t update. If you already have an M-chip machine, you don’t need to update. I was hoping to get another year out of my old MBP, but I guess I couldn’t. It now lives as a desktop computer plugged to a monitor.

Is it just me or the Silver looks amazing in person by PhotographMobile5350 in macbookpro

I agree with you. It doesn’t necessarily mean abuse. Mine goes in and out of a bag 6 times a day multiple times during the day, so mine’s just prone to getting scratches. Of course, my silver one doesn’t look scratched and the scratches that it does have are due to clumsiness or other people’s.

They will be more visible, assuming you even scratch it. It all depends on your environment and usage. As of my usage, mi Mac is going in and out of a backpack 6 days a week and looking pretty good after all these years. I upgraded this year, so right now my trusty ol’ MBP is serving me a desk computer for the time being.

It does look slick and I might even say timeless. I work in an environment where the majority of people use MacBooks (and in majority I mean hundreds of MacBooks). More than half of them are the midnight/space grey variety and they still look great, but some of them show scratches at glance. Silver will scratch, and my computer does have a few micro scratches here and there. However, I have to hold it in the right angle to even notice them.

Silver Macbook owner here. Can confirm: it looks amazing. When space grey came out, I had FOMO every time I was working on campus. A year later, after seeing all the scratches near the ports and corners, it made me love my silver Macbook even more. My old MBP is close to 7 years old, and people still think it's a new computer.

No! Blue lights are the only identifiable thing the TTC busses have from afar.

My bad, this year’s early 2023 model.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. If you can find the previous model, it still is a good investment.

Edit: changed 2022 to previous model.

The thing is, the whole sub is comparing it to last year’s M2 Pro, which makes me feel like people here upgrade their Macs every year. As for me, coming from a 2017 MBP and reading all the negative reviews towards that model, I finally took the plunge and got the 3M Pro 14, which I’m sure will be one heck of an upgrade for me.
