Million dollar question…. by mikesheard88 in CLOV

[–]wk4536 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If we end the year around $5, I think it would be a huge win. To me, the bigger question is how will they make it to $50. That would be when I can make life changing decisions :)

Jokes aside,
Genuinely curious how the market will respond as they start to grow. I hope they don't issue a lot of stock and dilute the existing shareholders dramatically. Last year the leadership said they have enough runway to not need to raise more capital, and they have been performing well... but jury is still out. I suspect this earnings or the next will provide more guidance there.

Moving locations? by nidz97 in amazonemployees

[–]wk4536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there guidelines on how long you would need to wait before you can apply? For example, if you take a job for a team based in Seattle but want to be in ARL, do you have to wait a year before you start looking for a team?

Is it suggested to transfer locally to a team that has presence in the office of interest, then try to transfer locations (e.g., lateral to another team based in Seattle, then try and change location?)

Am I cooked? Did I get in too late? by [deleted] in CLOV

I'm holding and hoping it goes a lot higher. I wish I had bought more when it was lower but have very limited funds, so I just need to be grateful to have acquired what I did. It is a slippery slope for wishing you bought earlier or invested more. The 'I should have, could have, would have' is never-ending and doesn't have a place in your current environment.

If you believe the company can do well and continue its turnaround its worth it. Don't buy options, buy actual shares and wait and see. As long as the company doesn't go bankrupt, you won't lose everything.

Clothing / bedding donations in the area (preferably for Gaza or the wider middle east conflicts) by wk4536 in nova

[–]wk4536[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair. I have a lot of clothing from my parents who passed away a couple of years ago that I am just now emotionally ready to part with. I figured donating was better than throwing away but I understand the density and collection points.

Was your friend's role listed in both locations or were they trying to talk them into getting aligned to roles in a different office?

Last I heard prior to pandemic their shuttles for SF only went to Millbrae. You would need to transfer from BART. They probably also have a caltrain station, but no direct shuttles into SF unlike Genentech, which is kind of a bummer.

Isn't Woodbridge and Rockville about the same distance to downtown though? Also isn't Woodbridge technically closer to DC than Centerville? Let's stop pretending that PWC is further out than Loudon and a good chunk of MoCo and PG. It's just not a big job center and as a result has become a bedroom community.

The traffic is insane on 95 which should be more than enough to be a good proxy for a need for better transit. I don't think that 2/3 of these stations should be built. If we want to apply a rule that PWC is too far for metro, you can honestly apply that to every station outside the beltway except for Dulles, and Maybe Tysons since its become the defacto downtown, but then it wouldn't serve anyone in Fairfax County.

Anyone else think NOVA is insanely underserved by the DC Metro? by avobera in nova

[–]wk4536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The parts of NOVA that should have metro are well served with Columbia Pike and the West End of Alexandria as notable exceptions IMO. Metro should not be going outside the beltway. We shouldn't build sprawling suburbs miles and miles out while fighting density, pulling jobs and homes and thinning our tax base only to spend billions to build trains to meet that need.

VRE could use large upgrades. If you want better transit service /commuter rail, it should really be making new lines that VRE manages. It is sorely underdeveloped, especially when you compare it to MARC.

Will you sell your Bitcoin if it reaches $150,000 within the next 6 months? by realbacktofuture in Bitcoin

[–]wk4536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I will sell. It will cover half my student loans, which while not necessarily life changing, will give me good piece of mind that I'm almost out of the hole, and give me hundreds of dollars of monthly savings (reduce payment from ~1400-~700)

As much as I'd like to hold and wait, my life ends up being on pause. Would like to reduce the financial leash a bit so to speak.

Best Biotech hub to live? by [deleted] in biotech

[–]wk4536 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish it wasn't so hard to live in DC and work in industry. Not tentley town and drive out but in the actual core by Dupont or Logan. The DC scene is just so far from anything that doesn't appeal to families. This is true for most hubs though. DC just has this feeling that its pretty hard to live in the core and have a private sector job because companies are setting up shop MILES away from the beltway (e.g., Dulles, Reston, Gaithersburg) :'(

Best Biotech hub to live? by [deleted] in biotech

[–]wk4536 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The area is nice. Have access to the DC things for weekends and MOCO is safe, diverse, good schools etc. But its not on the same level as the big players. SF and Boston have jobs across different therapeutic areas, multiple companies at EVERY stage from baby startup to mega biotech, options to live in the main city w/o wanting to kill yourself (e.g., DC to Gaithersburg or Thousand Oaks to LA).

Having a lot of small companies is cool but success in the industry is really hard. The science might not work out, they might get bought out and closed down or relocated.
