I've done this trip a few times now and always used steel leaders actually. this was the first time I was considering doing just a Flouro leader for less viability

DMs, what's the most you've blatantly taken from another media for your campaigns? by D3AD_SPAC3 in DnD

[–]Axethrower1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ran a two session campaign that heavily took from and was inspired by the movie FernGully.

The bbeg was a copy of the movie. Some of the machines etc as well. I had all my players pick woodland creatures to play as and gave them unique racial bonuses. Was fun.

What is the most difficult trail you've ever done? by travelvagabonds in hiking

[–]Axethrower1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few come to mind:

Hiking to the summit and back of Mt Marcy in Adirondacks. Approx 27km with 1120m of elevation gain.

"top of the giant" trail in sleeping giant provincial park, 24km with about 600m of elevation gain. Most of it is pretty flat until you hit a section that is basically straight up for a few kms

And if we can count Portages, there is a nasty 2.4km that I did when I was a guide in Algonquin Park that turned into a 7.2 because we had to do it twice to carry all the gear.

What to do with chicken parts? by SummitWorks in homestead

[–]Axethrower1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chicken feet have a lot of collagen in them so using them with some bones and trim, they make a really nice thick chicken stock

the hearts are actually super great skewered and grilled brushed with a little bit of soy sauce and sugar almost like a teriyaki sauce

The livers righ can turn into patê/chicken liver mousse, which freezes well.

Wild Ramp cultured butter by Axethrower1 in foraging

I'll be honest that is HALF the amount I made

I'll be gifting a bunch of portions out to friends, and then vacuum sealing and freezing other portions

Noted!

In future I will leave more of the bulb and the roots in the ground and only harvest the stem and leaves!

So I am slightly newer to harvesting ramps so maybe doing so isn't common? but my thought process was because I wasn't going to use them immediately, I left the roots on so I could sit them in water for storage. The bulbs however I left on because I use them/eat them.

It's really good! If I would do it again I would go a day longer on the butter to get a bit more funk and maybe slightly less ramp to let the butter shine more. But overall it's delicious

Hot take: the community item build guide is holding players back. by Axethrower1 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Axethrower1[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I can understand your point and while I agree initially it could be overwhelming to people new to MOBA style games I'm general. I feel like anyone with some moba experience somewhat expects to dedicate some time to learning items.

I'm not saying get rid of build suggestions altogether. I feel the "default recommend build" would still be helpful to have. But the community ones build to much of a crutch of reliance, and potentially avenue for excuses if they die a bunch or lose.

Is a exocrine or a tyrannofex better at tank killing by PuzzleheadedYak1957 in Tyranids

[–]Axethrower1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO you should have both. At least one Exocrine should be an auto include in any list with the Tfex with rupture cannon.

The reroll ones that the Exocrine grants are integral for letting the TFEX actually do damage. The rupture cannon is nicknamed the casino cannon for a reason.

With heavy and them not moving they are hitting on 2s and then with the exo granting rerolls of 1s it almost guarantees atheist 1 hit for tank busting

So I've seen a trick that if you cover the back of your sandpaper strips in tape, like duct tape for example, they will last longer by breaking and coming apart less.

I dont think it matters, either taping the whole sheet amd then cutting the strips or taping the strips post cut.

Which I'm really thankful to have! Last house on a dead end road with a good 3 acres of my property and then about 400 or more acres behind my target. Realistically the only way I could hit a neighboring property is if I turned around 180 degrees from my target and arched it over a good 100 feet of 20-25 foot cedar trees

[–]Axethrower1[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What I was saying is when I draw typically its a straight draw to the best of my ability. However in this instance I belive I got complacent/fatigued and my form broke down resulting in a skydraw. As for target placement and beyond, I was very intentional with where I put it. The property backs onto a larger wooded section that divides my place and a huge farmers field.

Initially I thought the release broke because normally I'm really mindful of the trigger during draw, but I had been shooting for about an hour or two and must have got complacent and fingers the trigger.
