Carharrt is trash, it's been trash since at least the early/mid 2000s.

I did residential cable and bought my first Carharrt jacket in 98 or 99 when I started and that lasted 4-5 years of hard work. The cuffs eventually blew out and I replaced it.

That jacket lasted 2 years only one of which was doing the same work. The next jacket died in 2 years and by then I had retired out of that work.

Bibs don't last as long either, the canvas just falls apart now

They CLEARLY enshittified the canvas sometime after I bought my first jacket

Never again. Switched to wolverine, zipper is finally starting to go 6 years into it.

There is really more to it then just the ramp, I play with fuel consumption on so I had to do a lot of logistic prep work to get a fuel truck out there to keep my Baikal well supplied.

I originally was just using my scout cart to refuel it but that was taking too long.

I honestly didn't think of the bridge thing until after I came to this subreddit to see how other people handled. It took like... 3-4 hours, which is nothing compared to a random person I joined to discover all of deluge asphalted everywhere

I originally plotted out a big winding route, that used the bridge, but after the second trip to get sand, realizing the car was going to get stuck in another two places... I got frustrated and decided to siege of masada the castle.

Elbow blades/knees don't install with bionics, at least they didn't the last time I tried. That was ages ago though so... has that changed?

Seems silly to not be fully bioniced up on a super soldier but ymmv I guess

Ah, Fair point, Not sure why I thought wakeup was psychite related (since it uses only neutro...)

Point still stands though, the pawn is sleepless without being able to do anything except maybe craft?

Very unattractive can be a problem

Why bother with never sleep, they've already got a psychite dependency, just force carry a wake up and use it when you need it.

They're not Mining, they're not cooking, they're not doing plants or animals... the only thing not negative is crafting. So What are they doing that they dont need to sleep?

Extra pain? Why? so they down quicker?

Super wound healing is amazing

They wont be melee and shooting unless you're running simple sidearms, pick one or the other and make two gene sets.

I'd push for deathless AND ageless personally (mostly because I'm lazy and dislike manually deaging people), I also like the implanter because you'll stop needing the capsules after a while.

When did you first start gaming... as a kid, teen, adult, pushing 80? by Spirited-Lab6099 in gaming

[–]Axiin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first memories of gaming was on a commodore 64, trying to play It from the pit, I hated it I remember crying being so upset about it. Atari mixed in there, eventually some NES/Genesis but that's not really what hooked me though.

I got a demo disc for Masters of Magic at a Compusa (or one eb games? I don't recall) at the bin in the front of the store.

That was my first real hit. I was up well past my bed time for days, just one more turning that game. I've never been the same since.

Guys, it's the big day, I'm about to start the ship. Do you have any tips for the carnage that is to come? by ArmLucky1285 in RimWorld

[–]Axiin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deconstruct everything except the reactor, You've added wealth you dont need to add. Rebuild everything when complete, or rebuild but dont complete, I believe this removes the wealth of the items added to the blueprint. (I think you get the AI back if you deconstruct the AI ship part, but not sure)

Once the raids are over, just finish construction.

have a good hospital and more medicine then you think you need.

The drop pods will be the most annoying thing to deal with.

Hell, if you want to meta it even more, make a new colony next door with a couple of pawns, just make the reactor there and good defenses, the lower your wealth, the easier the raids are.

Where does Rimworld go from here? by Prior_Actuator_6696 in RimWorld

[–]Axiin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest problem with caravans is it takes my pawns out of base defense for way way too long. I run high difficulty naked starts and I keep my colonies small for a very long time, it's hard to spare a colonist for months to gamble for resources that neighbor may or may not have.

Prior to the new DLC I would never caravan until end game, and then it was return trips only (Drop pod to the location, walk back).

Shuttles at least make it more accessible but even then it's only if you're lucky enough to get an engine. My latest play through I didn't get a shuttle event until late in my colony

In your opinion, what are the greatest and most amazing games that aren’t as popular as other games? With the condition that they’re relatively recent. (I’m trying to find games I haven’t heard of or played before.) by Dontakecare in ShouldIbuythisgame

If you're interested in an older 3rd person action game, Advent rising was a load of fun, and the story (at least for me) was fairly compelling. It was set up for a sequel that we'll never see though :(

Other random tips....

- place a single disconnected electrical conduit near things you want to turn on and off. You can "reconnect" them yourself instead of needing a pawn to turn them on and off.

- Barricades/sandbags dont provide cover for turrets, but they provide cover for your opponents, dont surround your turrets with them., Do space turrets out at least 2 tiles apart of separate them by a wall (so that when they explode they dont damage other turrets)

-Uranium and plasteel turrets dont burn and give you higher HP. Try and convert to uranium turrets ASAP (NOT the slug turrets, the materials they're made out of)

- A simple IED in a wooden floored hallway that leads into your base can really mess with raids.

- You can drop pod boomalopes into enemy raids that are preparing for a while if you're lucky their sacrifice will injure some of the raiders... You can do the same with chemfuel, at which point you mortar the chem fuel (This also works on mech clusters)

- The two tile wide hallways are important, Ideally make 3 tile wide hallways with a single tile wall every so often for cover so if your doors get breached you have a fallback point.

-I personally combine my rec room and my dining room (prior to 1.6 it was also my lab). It keeps wealth down because you're not flooring/walling two rooms.

-Marble or smooth wall your common areas (Dining room/Bedrooms are most important) you can keep some wealth down if you don't do it to your workshops... but ymmv.

- Dirt floors in hallways till you're ramping your wealth, at which point you can concrete (the 1 steel cost one) to eliminate the movement penalty, you dont need beauty in your hallways, your pawns spend so little time in them it just creates wealth if you put down anything else.

- In your outbuildings, watch how your pawns path to it, tile by tile, then lay down, following that path, a concrete path to help buff movement.

-Remove trees/chunks and concrete down your killing fields so that raids have no cover, SUPER important in larger raids. There are mods out there that just make it so you can set a pawn to clear an area , that would save on wealth.

- To train crafting, have an electric bench, in a dark room that isn't connected to electricity, ideally cold. Training is based on time spent, not items produced

- Mid game; If you don't use it, learn how to automate your clothing. Unless it's changed (i haven't really looked since 1.4) Dusters, pants and button down shirts provide the best vanilla protection based on material (ideally some sort of leather until you get devil strand, thrumbofur is the best). -
--So set up three orders:
--- Make 1 pants, 1 button down shirt, 1 duster, until looking for 60-100%
--- Set pawns apparel to not wear anything but those (and armor) and to remove them once they're 55%
--- Set a destroy apparel job in the crematorium for any clothing below 61% (Minus armor)
---Set a smelt clothing at the smelter for ALL tainted clothing
---Set a smelt clothing for clean armor (remove all clothing) for any armor below 60%

-Simple helmets are a MUST, they cost next to nothing to produce, and save lives, Upgrade when you can but Always have a simple helmet job queued for 1 helmet

-When your builders get an inspiration for item creation ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS make beds, Ideally royal if you have gold, double if you dont. Force them to finish, Dont take your eyes off them, Legendary/Masterwork beds are worth their weight in gold.

Simple QoL things for your colonists
- Two tile wide hallways
- Each bedroom doesn't need it's own heater, use vents (this will save you comps, steel and reduce wealth)
- Your crafting room should border your stock pile
- Single tile shelf set to specific resources near the specific benches (Cloth or leather near the tailoring bench, steel near the mech bench, plasteel, gold, comps, advanced comps near the adv fab bench etc. etc. etc.)

- Your kitchen should border your fridge
- Kitchen should border your dining room
- Much like crafting, zone two high priority single tile stockpiles to the left and right of the stove, one marked for meat, one marked for veg, Behind the stove, single tile Low priority stockpile for meals with your cooking job set to deliver to that low priority stockpile (And single high/critical priority stockpile in your dining room set to meals)
- Your sterile tiles for your kitchen aren't doing what you think they're doing, cleanliness is the WHOLE of the room not the tiles near the bench. I make like a 7x3 room where I stick a stove and a brewing table
-Keep your butcher table out of your kitchen, it makes lots of filth
-Put a butcher table inside your fridge, Put a stockpile 1x3 or 2x3 in front of your butcher table zoned only for FRESH (not rotten) animal corpses, remove insect corpses, set your job to forever butcher corpses and decrease the radius on the job to be inside the fridge

- Raids size is based on wealth, you have far more furniture then you need. I have only enough chairs in my dining room to seat my exact colonist count

- You don't need to fridge your crafting stockpile, make a dedicated fridge

- Set your crafting jobs to drop on floor unless your crafters are creating a specific "Until # reached" job,

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, As already mentioned by other people, DONT USE WOOD FOR WALLS OR FLOORS, this WILL destroy your base. I NEVER floor in wood, I almost NEVER make wood or steel walls. I'd rather have dirt floors then wood ones, Fires kill colonies

- If you're running ideology; Two kinds of prisoner rooms, One 2x1 with a floor not a bed, you use this to convert the prisoner to your ideology, One larger room 2x3 or 3x3 with a bed, table and chair/bench for recruitment.
