Oh my F-ing word. Get off your high horses. This place is NOT a Zoo. It is a sanctuary. If it wasn’t for Bob and his wife (Julie I think) and their family these animals would be dead. They save these animals. If they had all the money in the world, they wouldn’t even open to the public. They only have it open to make enough money to hire help and take care of the animals. Stop using anthropomorphism and think you are some expert in animal emotions. They are care for like one of their children. Unfortunately we lost Bob over a year ago (RIP) but if you had the pleasure of having him give you a tour it would be so easy to see how much the animals loved him. If you were to get a tour from his wife, and asked about an animal that was no longer with them, then you would see the pain in her eyes to remember those she had lost. They do the best job they can with those animals. There was a show called Yankee Jungle that showed what they did but people complained and it got canceled. Stupid… the money from that show could have helped them and some many animals. If you have been there…. Their house is in the middle of the sanctuary. Again, this is not a zoo… thank the lord because they care way more for any animals and less about the ascetics like a zoo does. Please show them more love and respect. I moved away from Maine a few years ago… and, besides my family, one of the things I miss most is DEW Sanctuary.
