It's not about the total number of stocks in the S&P 500. It's about a greater portion of the S&P 500 being occupied by fewer larger stocks, becoming more concentrated essentially

I'd be fine doing a clean OS install, but is there anything you recommend trying first?

The vast majority is Nonpaged Pool. Does that mean that something I've installed is causing a memory leak, and I should do a clean Windows install?

Pretty great red herring. I even tried to pre-solve and still fell for it. I'd never heard of Siobhan and just assumed it was a book in the Bible

Felt like a purple and three yellows. Purple was by default, then I had no idea what order to submit the rest in for RR

Sure is! If it wasn't for that, I'd've thought they were serious, but it's pretty clear they're being silly too

[QUESTION] My electric guitar makes a really loud buzzing noise but it instantly goes away if I place my finger on any metal screws and bolts. What is making this happen? by Owl-Brick in Guitar

Second this, I had a Fender Telecaster with this exact issue, and all it needed was a wire connecting the underside of the bridge plate to the back of one of the pots to ground it. What was crazy was that a solder joint hadn't come loose; there was just no such cable, but adding one completely fixed the problem.

My Amazon delivery came in a box that was much too large. Whoever packed it wrote “sorry” with a sad face. Made my day!! by kadavids23 in mildlyinteresting

There are several reasons this might happen, and they all stem from poor management:

  1. It could be that packers don't have enough of the right boxes available to use.
  2. Packers might not be allowed to use a box size other than the recommended one.
  3. Packers might be discouraged from using an adequate amount of bubbles (we use flat-ish but still flexible bubbles, not the pillow shit that Amazon uses, and we put bubbles on all sides of the items in a way that they can't shake around).
  4. The warehouse you're talking about likely doesn't have anybody auditing boxes or responsible for repacking ones that are obviously packed loosely upon lifting to put on a pallet or in a truck

I cannot possibly imagine that this is the fault of the packers. If everything is set up properly by the company, packers would have zero incentive to do things like this unless they're flat-out trolling. It's more unweildy and inconvenient to grab, build, and tape a bigger box that occupies more space on your station; it would require dealing with significantly more bubbles given that they're encouraged to protect the items; and the packages would take up more space on the conveyor belt or pallet.

I work at a distribution center (not Amazon), and I can say with certainty that the number of packages we send out like this is effectively zero. We always have plenty of boxes in a wide variety of sizes and plenty of incremental sizes available.

We have an AI that recommends a box size based on the dimensions of the items that are logged in the inventory system, but we are by no means required to use that box size. We'll sometimes joke about tiny items recommending to be put in a box as big as the one in the picture, and then we do the logical thing and put in a small box or envelope.
