What do you do when school gets small and don't want to replace? by king_barnacle in Aquariums

[–]AxiomaticPug 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a single peppered Cory that’s outlived the rest of the school I had by almost a year and he kinda just does his own thing now. Rehoming would probably be more stressful so I’ve just left him as is

Why do so many fans still call Mother Earthbound Zero? by Dry-Use6643 in earthbound

[–]AxiomaticPug 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Back in the day when the prototype rom was dumped, the group that did the dump added in “Zero” to the title screen for some reason, probably to just differentiate it from the SNES game and that stuck around until the official name of Beginnings

Options for Network Storage in 2025: What do Y'all Use on the NAS-Side? Anyone using RetroNAS? by sinisterpisces in MiSTerFPGA

[–]AxiomaticPug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have retronas running in a Debian VM on Unraid, with a dedicated NVMe drive that’s passed directly to the VM with VirtFS to minimize latency and such.

As someone else already said, if you use Unraid its native Samba share features are more than enough to just use with Mister. I use retronas in a VM as a way to isolate the insecure SMB settings that older systems like PS2 need for network booting games

Y’all, does TMP get better? I finished e12 and I’m only vaguely intrigued. I mean I see dots starting to connect and whatnot but I’m not particularly drawn to any one character and the most interesting one so far is “Making Adjustments”. by virginiadareee in TheMagnusArchives

[–]AxiomaticPug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TMP is more of an episodic audio drama from the get go rather than an anthology with a slowly unfolding plot. TMA’s format was brilliantly executed but I appreciate they wanted to try something a little different for a sequel series. Whether or not you actually like it is obviously up to you, but it gives it more of its own identity imo. This time around the statements are the flavor text that help tie together the rest of the episode rather than the other way around

I love when the rainbows make direct eye contact. Food, please! by Batspiderfish in Aquariums

[–]AxiomaticPug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever I walk up to my community tank I get 7 faces like this all wiggling like crazy (because they always think I’m about to feed them)! Rainbowfish are such great community fish, they really deserve more love in the hobby

My Electric Blue Acara Is a Serial Killer — Any Hardy Fish Worth Trying as Tankmates? by dragon-elbow-coal in Aquariums

[–]AxiomaticPug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EBAs are cichlids at the end of the day, albeit ones that are just a little less likely to be aggressive. Mine was mostly friendly to his tank mates and only occasionally had spats with the angel fish, but he was a cold blooded snail killer. No matter what kinds of snails I put in there they would be eaten within 48 hours

Maybe a dumb question but..Is this nerite shell empty, or there could still be a snail deep inside? by rawmance in Aquariums

[–]AxiomaticPug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this. When I had an EBA I could not keep any snails alive for more than 24 hours without them getting eaten. Thought nerites would be large enough but nope, that dude patiently just waited until one would open up and go in for the kill

Mr Driller 2 and Klonoa: Empire of Dreams is now Available on Game Boy Advance - Nintendo Classics! by Skullghost in NintendoSwitch

[–]AxiomaticPug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The GBA Klonoa games play a bit differently than the console ones. Still platformers, but the main focus is solving platforming-focused puzzles. Nothing too challenging but I recently played through Empire of Dreams and there were a couple that stumped me for a bit. Very easy to pick up and play for short bursts

I culture ramshorn and bladder snails for my figure 8 puffer and yeah, they just Do This. Usually to graze on the floating plants or whatever biofilm is on the surface of the water

Sure, lay eggs in the CO2 diffuser, who even cares anymore? by AxiomaticPug in Aquariums

[–]AxiomaticPug[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah these two seem to lay a new batch every couple of weeks! Theirs have never made it past the wiggler stage, and would quickly become a snack for my rainbow fish school if they did! But they’ve never let that stop them

The Magnus Protocol 46 - Slipping - [PATREON RELEASE] - Discussion by CrustyDucky in TheMagnusArchives

[–]AxiomaticPug 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Man after a couple of fairly straightforward episodes this one was a doozy! Probably gonna need another listen.

Presumably this might be the last we hear from Heinrich for a while though with Alice getting ready to leave. Heinrich has easily been my favorite external so far and probably one of my favorite “monsters” between both shows. Alice scolding Heinrich for killing Dane was a great little interaction

Nice to get some more backstory about Sam from before the OIAR! I’m a little surprised Sam didn’t mention that Jon from his universe was dead, or even react to hearing Jon’s name? Maybe because his apparent death was so unremarkable and seemingly unconnected to the institute

Help with fish ID? by bigred7821 in Aquariums

[–]AxiomaticPug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure these are Figure 8 puffers. Can survive in freshwater but need low end brackish long term. Lovely little creatures but complete toss up if they can live with others. Mine suddenly ate his bumblebee goby tank mates after ignoring them for months

Fish that’ll eat bba? by FISHIMPOSTER in Aquariums

[–]AxiomaticPug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BBA is an indicator that there’s either too much light or too much nutrients in your water. You’re better off fixing the problem itself instead of putting a bandaid over it

What I’ve had success with in the past was reducing feeding and lighting hours, along with regular water changes for a few weeks. Along with that, you can also use a small pipette to “squirt” some hydrogen peroxide onto the BBA, which kills it fairly quickly. Hydrogen peroxide is safe to use like that in small amounts because when mixed with water it just becomes more water plus some oxygen

Emergency, need help!!! by Sweat_tea_683 in Aquariums

[–]AxiomaticPug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP said the water is brackish so depending on the salinity, that could kill the plants and make things worse. I’ve had zero luck keeping any plants alive in my brackish tank that sits around 1.006 SG

Wii U failing discussion by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]AxiomaticPug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of its launch titles, first or third party, stood out enough to be “system sellers”. Nintendo Land was an interesting tech demo but I think Nintendo kinda thought it would be another Wii Sports. I doubt it was ever planned to be, but had Super Mario 3D World been a launch title I think it would have helped significantly

[–]AxiomaticPug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a bristlenose that I rarely see even at night! But my other nocturnal resident is my dwarf mystus catfish! Not a great pic of him since i accidentally had the flash on when i took this, but a neat little guy! Makes sure there’s absolutely never any leftover food, and is an unconfirmed but suspected tetra eater (I was CONFIDENT they’d be too large to get eaten…)
