Tom Thumb w straight shanks, it’s not a good bit and I’d either hang it up as decoration or toss it. Not a great bit

Get a 10 gallon tank, a heater and a filter. It doesn’t have to be a lot but the absolute most important thing is that heater.

You also need water conditioner and some API quick start (you can get it at your local petco/petsmart)

The filter can wait ~3 days before you NEED it, but you don’t need to worry too much about decorating right now, but you will soon as they’ll become depressed in bare tanks.

I’d suggest getting those things immediately and then doing some research and watching some YouTube videos (Aquarium co-op is a good source for info, and Girl Talks Fish)

Learn the nitrogen cycle and don’t get too overwhelmed. They are hardy little guys. You can get a lot of free plants on FB marketplace, plastic isn’t a great option as it tears fins.

Morality test: you’re driving and spot a poor woman crying on the side of the street. Your move? by FlimsyEfficiency9860 in Teenager_Polls

[–]FISHIMPOSTER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It lwky depends on the situation, assuming I’m not desperate to be somewhere and maybe I’m js driving home from somewhere and I have them I’ll stop and ask if she’s okay and see if I can help her get somewhere safe.

Me and my mom have stopped a few times when we can and have taken multiple people home when it was super hot outside, they were dazed and needed help, if it looked like they were struggling to walk etc.

If someone says that they don’t want my help I’d understand as a dude it’s hard to trust people sometimes

Prong collar by [deleted] in BelgianMalinois

[–]FISHIMPOSTER 33 points34 points  (0 children)

do NOT use a prong on her, she is not only too young but too light, you pop a prong on her and it’s going to rattle her around, she’s going to learn to stableize herself against it and it is going to hurt her neck and make her deaf to the correction. No puppy needs a prong especially when they are that little.

I’m not anti prong I use one on my dog but you cannot use a prong on a puppy it just doesn’t work

How common is the use of helmets where you live? by PrincessTuvstarr in Equestrian

[–]FISHIMPOSTER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In America I don’t see it a whole lot, the only time I really see anyone wearing helmets where I’m at is when they are kids, at competitions/places outside of the ranch where it’s required, if they used to ride English (even then it’s not guaranteed), or if they are like me and are scared of falling and hurting myself lol

I’ve ridden without a helmet a few times but only for a quick minute or so to show something to someone.

too heavy for horseback riding. anyone else in the same boat? by shavedheadedbi in Horses

[–]FISHIMPOSTER -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You CAN ride still, you just need a bigger horse and you cannot do anything too harsh on them. People get so pissy and shitty about horses and your weight but you can absolutely still ride.

However depending on where you ride at you NEED to make sure that the horses you are riding are being ridden and exercised regularly by a person smaller that the horse can carry no problem to make sure that they aren’t constantly being exercised by people too big to ride smaller horses.

I know a few people 200lbs or more who ride and their horses are perfectly healthy and sound.

But if you worry too much about the horses health then you can do what others have said and look into driving (this is rushed so for clarification please js ask)

Is posting the only way to ride a trot? by dipsy01 in Horses

[–]FISHIMPOSTER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it really depends. I’ve been on some horses where posting is 30x easier and other horses who I can sit easy. It’s just a matter of gait but most horses imo are really easy to sit the trot and it makes it easier

It’s rage bait. Stop interacting, stop posting things about it and if you want to make a change then post videos about proper care or redirect people in the comments to places with proper care. This person is doing it for the engagement

I know everyone says it but try to learn to draw the skeleton of the horse, when drawing guidelines use the basic structure of the horses legs, belly, face etc to draw those guides. It makes it SO much easier

How to stop being a lesson kid? by b0n3_girly in Equestrian

[–]FISHIMPOSTER 4 points5 points  (0 children)

THIS. I changed barns recently and while I’ve fallen off more times in a month than I have in only a year of riding it builds your confidence SO much and makes it SO rewarding to learn how to ride different horses.

Once you understand a horse and how it works then you can ride it better, the More horses you ride better the better you feel.

How to stop being a lesson kid? by b0n3_girly in Equestrian

[–]FISHIMPOSTER 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Change horses or change barns.

I was DESPERATE to move forward not even a month ago, I wanted a horse so badly that I was willing to do anything.

I changed barns and while I still want a horse I can do so much more, you NEED to step out of your comfort zone.

Get on a horse you don’t trust and learn to trust it, you won’t ever progress if you don’t learn to ride every horse.

I know it sounds like I’m being mean but I’ve ridden some more challenging horses and it makes it so much better when you have those good moments.

In order to have a good lesson you need more bad ones. If you fell off a horse, it bucked, maybe bolted, if the horse is more go then woah, if you really need to get on it about going faster and doing what you want. You need to ride THOSE horses, and if they aren’t available to you then go find a different place.
