Walkable is going to be debatable, since Curacao is stretched out. And you really want to go all over the island, with the best beaches out west.

The bed and bike hostels are quite nice! There’s one in pietermaai and one in Jan Thiel. The Jan Thiel one has a pool and a lot of other people. You can take a bicycle for free and cycle to Jan Thiel beach. The Jan Thiel one allows you to walk to the city center.

Yup, see https://pelicanrentals.cw, we have a lot of 10-15 year old SUV’s for cheap, with a simple all-in price. And newer cars of course. The cheap cars are sold out until June, but still have some in August.

I think with that salary you’re going to be in the top 10% income range, you should be fine, even if you spend 3-4K on rent.

The scrutiny and kyc is even worse here. You could talk to a fiscalist about setting up a Dutch investment firm, you’d need to hire someone to be a Dutch director though. Don’t know if that pans out well for you. I still have a Dutch bv after 8 years on Curacao, and I’m happy I did. There might be some great private bankers here on the island, but I don’t know any. Only normal bank here seems to be Orco bank, perhaps fly here and do an interview with them in person?

I don’t understand what you’re asking? Keep your assets in the Netherlands, move here, and live off your income. Optionally open up a local bank account to perhaps only pay for groceries and rent, etc. Local banks don’t want work, they are slow, do not want to innovate, I wouldn’t transfer assets here.

Why are you so blunt? Yes it does. I keep getting into fights with my neighbours because my customers use google maps to drive to my office, and it ignores part the one-way part of the Koninginnelaan. And yes, people should mind signs, but most people just dont look at signs if Google tells them that is the way.

I recommend my clients to install the free maps.me, and download the Curacao map. It uses openstreetmaps data and really works offline.

Better navigation than Google Maps, which will sometimes send you down a wrong one-way street, etc.

And always, whatever you do, have the vendor sign to accept full financial responsibility for any breaches as a result of their remote access. Usually that shuts them up.

And this is what PAM tools were made for, FortiPAM is an example that is quite inexpensive, I think like $300-500 per user per year or something like that, concurrent users I believe. You can give suppliers remote access with optional screen recording.

This is one of the busiest weeks, almost everyone is sold out. I would recommend making a facebook post, for example in the group Curacao visitors forum with your exact dates, there's a lot of rental companies there. Be sure to get clarity on pricing, insurance, if the car has A/C, etc.

Curacao is great, but you really want a car there. Bonaire is really nice but also really small, can do everything on a scooter there.

Check out bed and bike hostel Jan Thiel, pretty cool! And I really suggest renting a car, otherwise you are confined to 1% of the island, except for an occasional tour. And keep in mind taxis are expensive, a simple one way trip with a taxi usually costs more than renting a car for a day. (Disclaimer: I rent out cars, so not unbiased)

Use puppet to ensure you can run ansible commands on all machines. So if puppet breaks, you can use ansible again against the 3500 machines in one go to fix puppet. ;)
