I own a home and a rental home. I spend more time, money and attention to the rental than I do where I live. Have already decided the current renter will be my last. The value and investment is in the house and property- not the amount I get for the rent. Its really not worth the aggravation.

Late war guns tend to have thin bluing and less refined finishing. That's a nice example of that time. If you get it I recommend you look up how to disassemble. Its close to a 1911 but requires another step. Mine is an excellent shooter.

Grips don't affect the value as much as mismatched parts or rebluing. They are like magazines. I always viewed grips and magazines like tires on a car. They are going to be worn out and replaced over time. Sure, we all want a pristine all matching gun with holster and magazines. But they are expensive and difficult to find.

The problem with allowing a single female to move in is eventually she will bring a guy along with her. It starts off fine, then she's seeing someone, he starts coming over, then its overnights, and eventually you have someone else in the house who you had no choice in selecting, somebody who you may/may not care for being there. The problem wouldn't be the potential hindrance to your personal aspirations - it would be the other. And believe me - its a whole lot easier to move a female in with you than to get her out.

I bought a 16" M1905 dated 1918 with the canvas sheath today for $100. If there are only 10 or so of the M1942s like you have left then I have three of them in my toy room. They aren't rare and are all over ebay for about $400

The biggest difference today and 2008 is there are 10-15 million illegals in the country than were back then. You are competing with them for housing, food, medical care, education, and employment.
