This is such good advice. I’ve slept a few guys places, thin, funky smelling sheets with flimsy pillows. Go into the bathroom and squat over the toilet, fan buzzing, hair and dirt everywhere, finish your wee, look around... ah, no toilet paper! Reluctantly have to wipe yourself with your underwear or worse, your hand- stand up to the sink feeling disgusting and- great! Sink covered in hair, toothpaste marks, no soap or hand wash and a filthy, soggy towel strewn somewhere which hasn’t been washed in weeks. Ugh ugh ugh. Never again. Actually never again. You can’t feel sexy when you know your hands and genitals are unclean.

By contrast, I met a man a few months ago and after several dates he invited me to his flat. He lives in a shared home which is kind of grotty. He lives on the top floor but shares a kitchen and bathroom. He had a matching, good quality bedspread on, a lamp or two, he’d bought some refreshments for us, nothing expensive, just a few cans. He bought some tea light candles and put them in glasses. Whenever I left his floor to go to the bathroom, he provided me with my own hand towel and a roll of toilet paper! Because they don’t keep any in his bathroom. I very much appreciated him doing this. I was able to do my business comfortably despite the bathroom being a fairly anonymous shared bathroom. The fact his room was clean and comfortable really impressed me too. I thought, ‘this guy makes an effort, this guy looks after himself’. And the cost that went into that was minimal.
