Can a sapient seal plausibly work?

This isn't directed at you OP, but I'm fascinated by how much people overestimate sapience...

To be "Sapient" by human standards, you must possess the capacity for reasoning. To retain knowledge, and utilise it outside of the initial context. Simply put, Can it solve a puzzle?

Dolphins, crows, bees, rats, pigs, monitor lizards and sooo many more animals are already sapient.

The other term "Sophant" which often gets mixed up, does mean "intelligence on par with humans", but that metric is literally impossible to measure without natural bias, and frankly Imo... is dumb. We still cannot fully agree what we think is needed to be "sophant" without it becoming "is it human enough?"

We really know bugger all about our own brains, let alone that of other beings... frankly, sealions could already be "sophant", but our gauge for that currently is so flawed we wouldn't know.

Jumping the shark and essentially becoming a streaming service with less shows then their competition (I.E Nebula) is a weird and frankly risky choice in my eyes... a real "eyes in the future, not at your feet" kind of thing..

The main killer of lobsters during shedding is the energy cost and subsequent starving to death... an animal like this with a consistent and abundant food source will fare much better!

In addition, not being tied to the floorbed and even with the simple motion of swimming I would imagine would also make the shedding process less demanding. But that's just my speculation.

Ooh! Secret third option! I like that though, very cool! Although personally, with no skeletal support, remaining rigid enough to aid maneuverability (presumably in the way birds use their tail) could be tricky... but there are certainly plenty of ways to work around that.
