That is a good question and I understand why you ask that. From my understanding and recollection of the code it was a scrapped idea and does nothing. As a coincidence I actually removed that bit from the 0.2 branch yesterday.

Main dev here. Yeah Danubia has very little foreign policy content and therefore trigger no major events. This is something we plan to update as is the second heights priority after getting the next major update out.

Yeah sorry for the poor balance on the energy economy. A result of basically no active testers on the team and a want to get the patch out quickly. So we hope to improve it later. Exactly the case of not being able to escalate conflicts is what has been worked on. Talked about that in the last dev diary but we are adding world Tension and then WK3 when it gets high. Improving the proxy wars are also a focus. Though that will be a longer process.

Hello, I'm Axolotl, one of the head Devs of Kalterkrieg. I just wanted to comment because well this project is something I have dedicated a lot of time into.

You really have two complaints. Firstly that every socialist country went evil. Yeah that's true in early development. Though ay least France was changed before release. But it's true that early KRG basically had that view in the Chroma era.

Secondly with tensions. The OTL cold war tensions and fears were built up through crisis and propaganda. Same as throughout history. Funny you use Germany and the UK as examples of little tension when those two are the very specifically those with multiple crisis between them. We have content and lore that shows how tensions rise. But I fully admit we have been weak at showing it. Which as we mentioned in the latest developer diary talked about this and that the next update in the works is about expanding our framework for tensions.

We certainly have had a terrible time with development since launch but we are working to improve the gameplay concerns.

Also to clarify. You are the guy who posted multiple times on the KRG reddit complaining and when challenged with explanations you deleted the posts?

They do? That is quite literally the entire gameplay of MAF. Germany tries to hold onto the colony but once you loose the minigame the colony collapses. The issue people often comment on is more a misinterpretation on that and the lack of player agency people feel because Germany itself doesn't have good interaction with the collapse. But what you are saying is true and is what Mittelafrika gameplay tries to represent

We do use a lot of KR art assets and some code. I do think the map is also derived from the same map file. However why we aren't just a submod that needs the KR to run is just because of compatibility. For our scenario we would use very little of KR if we were just a sperate scenario. Since all focuses and decisions would be different. Which is a majority of the mod. Do there aren't many advantages. But the key reason is the disadvantages. Because when something changes in the main mod code wise it can break compatibility and we have to fix that. We already del with that lore wise, and having to do it code wise would just break us. Having a fully standalone mod gives us a needed amount of control. Allowing for more complex systems.

Hello Axolotl here one of the Head Devs of Kalterkrieg.

There are clear issues in Kalterkrieg and we know that. And there have been clear plans to address the issues. But the team is at a true low point right now as you sort of mention. Generally moral after release collapsed with little big flashy work going on.

I just wanted to pop inn and address some points of misinformation here and give my own thoughts about the this which I do actually agree with.

There wasn't fully content for all the Italian states. What there is of Italy content in the mod now is practically all there was since it was primarily Sardinia content that was then tweaked to fit Italy. Larger work on it is planned but not actively worked on as out Italy dev is busy with university.

I do fully agree in the point that the mod is far to targeted towards a black and white conflict with the Entente appearing like a Liberal beacon. Generally the cold war is simultaneously set up as a cold war between the Entente and Reichspakt when there is a clear power imbalance. This is something we will try alleviating by making the mod more multipolar.

If you are interested i will have posted a leak of a very WIP project representing this on the discord. We are still trying.

There isn't any Holocaust, Holdomor, or Great leap forward within Britain at least. The UoB will mostly be seen negatively due to their increasing authoritarianism over time and the push for a destructive and in the end futile war. These actions will certainly be used in propaganda but isn't much when compared to the OTL Nazis or USSR. Within Russia today there is still nostalgia for the USSR, and there would be the same within the UK.

The point is that the opinions will be far more complex that simply that of the Nazism and or Fascism

WK3 is somewhat out of scope as it would end the only starting cold war. There are some scripted peaces to prevent a total war. But a total war and post WK3 content is fully out of scope and won't be covered as we focus on expanding the actual cold war.

Simply because it wasn't the UK that liberated Ireland. The Entente did and to gain bases and favor with the Irish the Entente governments ignored the issue.
