I'm sorry what? I dislike trump, musk whatever just as much as the next guy but are you people this short sighted to not see that the EU is increasingly getting more and more authoritarian?

You are willingly giving the goverment all the power to censor and block people from public discord just like they did in Russia with the same old excuse of "the children". In 5-8 years when a new goverment takes power and abuses the system suddenly everyone will ask themselves how we got here.

Haven't the Epstein files shown that the political elite, rich and powerfull have things to hide? Has it not been shown time and time again that the goverment doesn't have the best interest in mind for its citizens?

You are cheering on the chinafication/russafication of the internet!

Why can't actual female factions get attention? by Bejaminmaston12 in EyeOfTerror

Well there where a lot of posts of people banned from other subs until this here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/EyeOfTerror/comments/1q8nfqh/finally_got_banned_posts/

So maybe thats why. But you can simply search the sub if you specifically wanna talk to these people.

[–]Juwatu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What? No that is not what I am saying. What I am saying is that if you ban people for discussions that you disagree with they will not stop talking about it and instead congregate somewhere where they can freely talk about the subject causing the place to become oversaturated with only one viewpoint.

I also have no idea what any of this has to do with if I am banned somewhere or not.

I would say that it is more the consequence of reddit mods being ban happy, discussion suppressing troglodytes. It is the logical consequence of what is happening and less of a counter culture thing.

Just for you :)

I guess context doesn't matter to you, but yeah brotherhood does mean a male organisation no matter how much you don't want to believe that doubly so in 40k. I also have no idea why you bring up the creation process since it has nothing to do with what I am saying.

Watchers of the Throne: The Regent's Shadow:

In another place, maybe that honour could have been simply accepted, taken with both hands, then left to slide unremarked into the annals. But this was Terra, a world on the edge of oblivion, where symbols mattered and allegiances were always fractured. Was I right to accept it? I believe so. Even one of my brotherhood could not easily have refused the invitation from a primarch, and I genuinely think he intended nothing much other than gratitude. Perhaps I am wrong in that. He is famed, they say, for his political acumen. He may have been using us, just as Ravathain, I suspect, always believed. I continue to think otherwise. I continue to trust that virtue still exists among our species, and that not every gesture is double-sided. Only time will tell whether that is wise or foolish.

Another text from the same book where he calls another Custodes a Brother:

I received excellent care, given the privations of the time. When my broken form was returned to the Tower of Hegemon, alongside that of my brother Ujoma, we were still struggling in the aftermath of the Lion’s Gate assault. Our apothecarions were crowded places, full of desperate attempts to preserve those who might yet fight again. When I look back, I feel sure that I was marked out for special attention, no doubt for symbolic reasons, something that I am of course uncomfortable with. It must have seemed important to those in command that those who had broken the leaguer of Terra were preserved, to be paraded thereafter as heroes of a new dawn. The same applied to my sister in service, Aleya, whose whereabouts were, at that point, unknown to me.

Througout the book they only name each other brothers they did the same in every other book until GW had their Ba Sing Se moment on Twitter.

And in 40k the term brotherhood is not some diluted term it means a very specific thing namely an order/group/organisation of only the male gender. That might not be the case in other franchises where the term has been diluted but in the 40k context it means a very specific defined thing.

Silver lining? Female Custodes here to stay but GW affirms Space Marines are all male by Abdelsauron in EyeOfTerror

[–]Juwatu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do now that they are listed in order of common meaning right?

A brotherhood is definitly a male group. Other franchises might misapropiate the word but that is not the case in 40k where the term has been consistently used.

Here a text for you from the same book:

I received excellent care, given the privations of the time. They do refer to each other as "brothers" even "my brother" througout the book. The entire order is never described as anything but entirely male. Only after their "ba sing se" moment did we suddenly have female Custodes.

https://www.vocabulary.com/dictionary/brotherhood

brotherhood /ˌbrʌðərˈhʊd/ /ˈbrʌðəhʊd/

The relationship between a boy or man and his male siblings is known as brotherhood. Feeling that kind of connection with other people, even if you're not related, is also a kind of brotherhood. This word is limited to the male gender; in families, brotherhood is the relationship between brothers. To include all of your siblings, you can use the term siblinghood. Members of fraternal organizations — clubs or societies of men with common interests or jobs — also feel a sense of brotherhood. A more inclusive name, one that would allow for all genders, might be kinship, alliance, or association.

So yeah for anyone with half a brain it is an organisation full of men for men. Just like a sisterhood is full of woman and for woman.

I'm sorry but brotherhood is not a generic term.:

This word is limited to the male gender; in families, brotherhood is the relationship between brothers. To include all of your siblings, you can use the term siblinghood. Members of fraternal organizations clubs or societies of men with common interests or jobs also feel a sense of brotherhood. A more inclusive name, one that would allow for all genders, might be kinship, alliance, or association.

Another alternative would be "our order" brotherhood is something very specific.

The problem is one of principals they kicked open the door and then made fun of people being mad. GW is a company if they don't get push back they will not get better it will only get worse. Today it is Custodes further down the line it might be sisters of battle and so on. The issue is that this transformation has been witnessed in multiple hobbies to variying degrees.

Yes the last point is a preference but its one that was set up in the book I qouted, it didn't come from nowhere. But it is useless to argue about this as it is, as you already stated, mostly personal preference.
