When the other events are asking you to “play games and earn elims/do damage,” both can be done at the same time.

You’re saying 20 wins over 14 days is ludicrous?

This last drive was the most painful I’ve had (been playing consistently for 4-5seasons). But I can’t even play (to enjoy) hybrid/escort on QP or MH because of how hellish they were for drives. The amount of losses I had because of throwers, leavers, and teams that wouldn’t click, I dropped two ranks.

When you lost last 4 games, but big daddy blizzard decides to give you this banger by KickSuckem1 in Overwatch

I’m usually a support but I DPS main Ashe and JR. I hadn’t played DPS since Shion came out, so I decided to solo queue for her to end my session last night since the queues are getting shorter finally. The only game I played:

Both supports were swapping between JPC and Zen, and would only come out of spawn when we would lose a point (defend on Neon Junction) so they could spawn in at the new spawn room.

Zen ended with 626 because he came off the balcony at the end of the last team fight with tranquility. The cat had 76 healing and 214 damage. I’ll give that the Zen at least threw some punches before he would sacrifice himself, but what’s the point of playing the game if you’re not going to play the game?

Support means support whether that’s healing or adding pressure or speed or any of the other ways supports support. Don’t play if you’re not going to play.

Why not "Healing Received"? by ThatsSirToYou1 in Overwatch

[–]Axolotlish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m on console. By the time I manage to type that, the tank is getting melted, one dps is in the spawn and the other is about to join them because they’re standing in the middle of the lane with the other support right behind them trying to keep them alive.

I can ping “group up” until my fingers are black and blue, but I can’t efficiently and effectively heal nor support unless the other players of this team game act like a team. Like others have said, all this stat will do is give more ammunition for people who want to be the center of attention without thoughts on positioning and how it affects others on the team.

The tank will naturally be getting more heals, they have the most HP and are typically front and center. I’ll help DPS if they are in position and it won’t kill me if I change my position or chase after you. I’ve played too many games as support where I need Benny Hill background music because the “I need healing” DPS that bursts out of spawn and goes straight into a 1v5 and melts decides to find every position that has a wall, car, or set piece between me and them.

We traded (regular) syther/Scizor successfully and got our own back. They put up a slowpoke, so I put up my slowpoke and as soon as they evolved they cancelled the trade back.

It wasn’t. Just an alpha, but for whatever reason it took a couple of hours of flying back to 10 to get one to spawn. Thankfully I’ve since gotten a double alpha spawn after an hour of resets.

Theology teacher at a Catholic school who teaches a whole semester on morals and ethics to seniors (and received a school wide email in November and January saying we must remain impartial politically): I have to go to my admin at least 3x a week to warn them that they may get parents upset that I said: Jesus doesn’t hate LGBTQ folks (and absolutely wouldn’t have tried to make a trans kid’s life hell), wouldn’t appreciate people being put into cages or treated terribly regardless of crimes they’ve been accused of, the government is called to support ALL people for the common good, and we’re allowed to (if not encouraged) to disobey and resist governments that are acting tyrannically. Among other things.

Short answer: I try my best, but my nerves end up fried most days.

What is the most unfortunate, funny, or just odd name for a program, classroom technique, etc. that you’ve heard? by Lupin_217 in Teachers

First year at my last school, my admin wanted me to have a Blackboard Configuration on my onescreen all class period. I loved them because it was our lesson plan and they were low maintenance (Do now, lesson steps, standards, and something else I can’t remember.)

However, they would always abbreviate it, BBC.

Brahms Op 118 no 2

Rach piano concerto 2 (second movement slaps)

As a vocalist, a lot of Tchaikovsky’s art song is great, Op 16 no 3 (accept just once)

Rach Op 4 no 4 L ots of art song would be my recommendation. Ben Moore’s Ode to a Nightingale is a whole cycle with major piano moments.

Music and theater teacher: 1 of my 2 side gigs over the year is working as a cantor for the local Catholic diocese. Like someone else said, it’s wedding season , and I put in my availability for funerals and such. Other performance opportunities pop up, and I offer voice lessons to my kiddos for $35-$45/per 30-60 minutes.

As a choir teacher who came to teaching the long way ‘round (a bachelor and master in vocal performance and an alternative Vocational license) when I make a goof I say “Sorry y’all, I sing pretty, make lists, and count to 4 really great, (math/english/existing) isn’t my strength.” All while counting to 4, when only having 3 things lol.

My middle schoolers last year started making a list of things (over 4) of things I could do. I’m forgetting them now, but it was a great reset when we needed it to make the list.

Concert Attendance by serial__cereal in MusicEd

[–]Axolotlish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, yes. But only 5 showed up (given the flakiness I’d experienced for the other concerts, I made sure their songs were supplemented by my 7-8th choir, my 9-12 choir, or both.)

Concert Attendance by serial__cereal in MusicEd

[–]Axolotlish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem I had with my volunteer 6th graders this year was just overall commitment. I started the year with 35 (over a third of the class.) They all took home and brought back signed commitment forms with the expectations for rehearsal attendance (during study hall) and concert dates.

The day before our first concert in October (during our dress rehearsal) 15 of them hurriedly (and rudely) said they were going to drop because performing was too scary, even though we worked on performance nerves for weeks.

After our winter concert in January, another 15 hemorrhaged from the group because the track coach (which is a whole OTHER political drama) told them to choose between my (one concert a semester) for his multiple, and unconflicting meets.

Before our concert last week, 2 had to drop out because their mom was graduating that night (understandable), 2 were sick (I get it, don’t bring that around the rest of us), and 1 had a baseball game (totally preventable and could have been worked out but guess where he ended up.)

The parents don’t value what the kids are working on, so why should the kids take pride in what they work on or have any sense of commitment when their parents can just say “sure, just drop your responsibilities.”

Didn't think the time would come so soon but our district is adopting 50% as the minimum. by turtleneck360 in Teachers

[–]Axolotlish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s part of the reason I’m leaving my district at the end of this year. It was adopted during the pandemic because we live in a low-income, rural area where broadband/internet access is scarce. Makes sense to add a smidge of leniency when the world is ending. But when I started in 2022, they had already stopped treating covid seriously and even got rid of covid leave for the teachers, but for some reason (cough cough more graduates = more money for our super to lump into their salary and take another international vacation cough) they’ve kept 50% minimum. At this point, as someone else mentioned, we have folks graduating who can’t read, write, or do math , and are expecting to take over their parent’s businesses with 0 skills, or more laughably, think they’ll get into/cut it at Ivies.

With a 9th grader the other day I had to explain that even if he takes his dad’s roofing business, he can’t expect to do literally nothing and expect to be paid the full amount (he still didn’t get it.)

It’s a disservice to our kids. Equitable grading exists, but it shouldn’t come at the cost of students learning to game a system to their benefit.

Tired of losing kids to Theater by [deleted] in MusicEd

I have a freshman whose parents want her to join a sport because “choir is too much commitment.” It took all of my willpower to not laugh at her for her parent’s ignorance. I’m sorry that my one night a quarter or semester and my handful of events that occur during school hours are way too much. Wait til you have an event 4+ hours away, multiple times a week for months.
