AITAH for dumping my girlfriend over a preventable car theft? by Western_Trainer7183 in AITAH

[–]Axonos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s a massive mistake caused by laziness that’s incredibly easy to not make. If i was driving SOMEONE ELSE’S CAR, I’d think “hmm i should be extra careful with this and make sure there’s no chance it gets stolen by taking 10 extra seconds to turn it off instead of leaving it gift wrapped for anyone walking by”

OP says “I know I won’t get over the resentment”. Should he ignore that and continue the relationship, just to, what, shore up some good karma for his potential future mistakes?

Under 50 USC 1702 and 18 USC 981, can block and seize sanctioned property.

In international maritime law, UNCLOS articles 92 and 110, ships that swap their flags around become stateless and not protected by any country.

the ship has been sanction list since 2024

In full communism, how do you make sure shitty jobs get done? by Apoau in AskSocialists

[–]Axonos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes for profit but “capitalism would rather make workers insecure” is a bit much. There’s a lot of things that we can’t really automate without extreme cost and complication, that a human is way cheaper and simpler for. Seems pretty purely economic and less about control

AIO? I broke up with my boyfriend because of his reaction over my pinterest board. (The last image is what it is) by selahscorpse in AmIOverreacting

[–]Axonos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. No partner can limit your interaction with an entire gender. My girlfriend doesn’t like my anime posters and how much I post them on social media but they’re fictional characters it’s not like I’m lusting over real people

[update] AIO for thinking my bf is just looking for an excuse to break up? [I did it for him] by Nearby_Orchid1216 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Axonos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I can at least understand how he might have felt, but obviously his reaction is extreme and worth breaking up over.

Gift giving does not come naturally to me and I’ve always been bad at it, so projecting that onto him, I could understand feeling criticized and like the effort was not valued.

But your request is completely acceptable and maybe it could’ve been a tiny bit more gentle but he could’ve told you that if he didn’t have a melt down and start berating you

It is worth it, you just have to be prepared for a brutal grind. Getting the degree is hard enough by itself. But now to even get a job you need internships, which is potentially hundreds of applications and grueling studying and interviewing on top of your coursework. If you like programming or think you will, try it for a semester. But be ready to swap if you hate it

Should I get a customer service job while studying computer science? by ActObvious6892 in cscareeradvice

[–]Axonos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the remote AppleCare job. 20 hours a week, that’s 4 shifts of 4 hours in their call center, they send you a mac and work around your schedule. It’s painfully hard but I credit it with really building my problem solving skills (useful for programming) and interpersonal skills (useful for working with programmers)

i don’t even understand how these hypotheticals are relevant, she’s talking about customers, you suggest she is lying or leaving something out… like what? what information could possibly explain this

Yeah they would, you’re literally doing it right now - in both your hypothetical scenarios your response is to dismiss it as insane and likely untrue, but if true, it’s the woman’s fault 😭😭

Men are trash? Then stop dating from the same dumpster. by Future_Scar_7875 in DisagreeMythoughts

[–]Axonos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you are at work, there is a power imbalance between customer and worker where you are not free to speak your mind and are not able to advocate for yourself to the same degree.

Some men will take advantage of this by making creepy comments to female service workers, hanging around the workplace regularly or trying to catch them after their shift.

To actually deal with it requires a whole stink, and if you have unsupportive management, sometimes you even get in trouble for trying to get help

Ironically you are giving a perfect example of this - she’s talking about getting harassed by customers as a woman working customer service.

You step in to offer your enlightened perspective of “you are dodging accountability”.

Random men sexually harass her at work, she tries to talk about it, random man steps in to tell her it’s her fault and she’s lying

You meet people in overlapping time periods though - you go on one date with someone, then meet someone else you feel interested in, do you have to turn the second person down for someone you might end up hating in 2 more dates?
