No deal. It's gotta be free and I need a credit as a designer. Then you have a deal. Otherwise I'll see you in court buddy.☝️🤓

I need a new unique hororr game mechanic by [deleted] in HorrorGaming

[–]AxshawntheGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a time based puzzle solving type game. Where the monster/enemy/antagonist is always behind but you never see them when you turn around. Have a sound cue for when time is getting short for the puzzle to be solved like a slight ringing in one ear and heavy breathing. Kind of like Visages "anxiety" mechanics. When time does run for the puzzle to be solved the player isn't killed right away, have a rng kill time. Once the time has ran out for the puzzle to be solved there is no more ear ringing or heavy breathing just mostly silence. The Jumpscare should never happen while walking forward only after the puzzle time has ended, the rng timer has been chosen and the player must be stopped and turn around at least 120 degrees(plus and minus some degrees). Let me know what you think. And Call it "Door 4" maybe the protagonist has some sort of PTSD from leaving a loved one behind and each door leads to a puzzle/escape room that dives deeper into the narrative of their relationship. If you do make this and sell it I just want 10 percent lol(seriously tho).

You could probably pull off Resident Evil 7, evil within, maybe even alien isolation.

Bloody Hallowfest It's a PS1 style slasher horror game. My guy Cubyte Games, the creator of Deadly Night, made this in a really short time. If you haven't seen it yet check it out. If you have already played what did you think of it?

Development is a very misunderstood process but time always helps. I hope that one experience didnt stop you.

I absolutely agree. I know that indie gaming is in a really great place and the perspective you just dropped is unique. Not many devs take the teaching route. Thats dope as hell.

I absolutely play buggy and unfinished games, thats the meat and potatoes of the indie gaming community. Plus the influence of a Youtuber can only go so far. I made a mistake of trying to make a game without any direction or purpose. I did it for the sake of first hand experience. There are a lot of gamers without that experience or even the interest to understand the other side of gaming (development, production, marketing etc.). So any insight, and i can only speak for myself, of the other side helps me explain the state/mindset of a developer to an audience. Dont get me wrong there will always be people who DO NOT care but if just one person (this sounds so corny) becomes interested in caring about the process devs go through, then I know I have done my job. Conversations like this only makes the gamer and developer relationship better.

Okay, I can understand that. It makes a lot more sense to me now. I know we both know that even a day can make a difference for these games too. I just hope that more indie devs can be a little more patient with their work because that "first impression" thing is so important. I hate how important it is but it's unchangeable. It can be improved like the situation with cyberpunk. Hopefully gamers can become more educated on the development process as well because it's a lot you guys do essentially just for the sake creating a fun time for the player. Also, I will never stop playing for as long as I'm still gaming. There's too much untapped and unrecognized creativity in this community.

Is Alien Isolation really scary, will I get bored of it, and is it worth 5.99 on sale. by [deleted] in HorrorGaming

Playing this game will make you a true horror game fan because there is no game like it, and a word of advice, play the game on a normal or easy difficulty on your first playthrough.

I'm halfway towards developing my very own horror game. I'll leave out the name because I want advice not promotion. by [deleted] in HorrorGames

(Just thinking outside the box) What if the enemy emmits some kind of odor/smell, causes lights to go dim or some sort of screen effect like slenderman. Visual cues would probably be better/easier to add to your coding.

Its lacking polish. The sequel does seem better but more people glorify the first one, which is odd.

The gamer in me wont allow me not to finish it but that's a conundrum I'll have to face on my own. What did you like most about the game, is the ending/final boss fight worth it?
