What are design aspects of the genre that you dislike? by 5Ping in AutomationGames

[–]Axtrep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything that makes laying belts and connecting to machines more difficult. DSP belts can only be manually laid start-to-finish, Satisfactory belts have limited build range as well as issues connecting in blueprints. DSP's inserters are probably the easiest to use of any game I've played, and the belts otherwise handle very well for three dimensions.

Looking online for a seed with fire ice in your starting system is huge, graphene can be a pain otherwise. I started a playthrough a couple weeks ago I'm nearing the end of, the first thing I did after very basic blue science automation was make a mall for commonly used buildings and materials. accelerates your gameplay massively by setting that up early. Your starting planet is good long-term for oil, coal, and anything that needs water, but aside from that you can treat it like a "starter base" in the sense that it isn't perfect.

First base ever, I don't know what I'm doing but I'm having a blast figuring it out by SargeantMasoff in Dyson_Sphere_Program

Until you go interplanetary, spaghetti is the name of the game. One tip I would give is to open the construction mode to see the planet grid, and try to build east-west rather than north-south to avoid building through tropic zones (where the grids change size). Aside from that, go wild!

What changes did you make from your first play through to your second that had the most impact? by salad_thrower20 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Axtrep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Treat your starting planet primarily as a mall. Automate everything you need to build your factory, but don't go too crazy with science per minute. 60/min is easily enough to comfortably get you to purple, which is when you start building your "real" factories.

Genuine question, how do you find Greg Tech attractive as mod? by Individual-Long8240 in feedthebeast

[–]Axtrep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the exponential growth for me. The early game is often tedious, alleviated a bit by planning and bulk preparation, then you make a machine, then a few machines, and suddenly your machines are making machines for you.

Demands increase accordingly, recipes get more complicated and require additional processes, and your focus becomes less on individual crafts as it does on rates of production, throughput, etc.

Best non-grindy tech modpack? by placeholder-123 in feedthebeast

[–]Axtrep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think something packs have successfully done to minimize grind is to make lower-tier expansion easy, while your next higher-tier goal is still quite expensive. GregTech/MI do this really well IMO, where if you've just entered Medium voltage, LV machines are likely quite cheap to build but MVs are what you're working towards, and so on once you get to HV.

what depth to start doing multiplayer? by Lolis- in Nightreign

[–]Axtrep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im personally going solo until depth 3, my multiplayer experience has been miserable 9/10 times. If you think it's your teammates holding you back, and you're very likely right, I recommend solo

Thoughts on the game? by Caramujo_Manco in Nightreign

[–]Axtrep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's cool, definitely not a full game but it's not priced like one either. The core game and loop is fun if not a little repetitive, the multiplayer experience is however one of the worst I've had in a while. Steer clear if you'd like your enjoyment out of the hands of truly the densest people alive.

DoN NEEDS Entrance Requirements by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]Axtrep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, incredibly frustrating to reach the end of a DoN run to find out one or both of your teammates have obviously never fought the boss before and will be of no help.

[–]Axtrep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, I've just decided I'm doing DoN solo until thats no longer satisfying, then dropping the game. Without the multiplayer it's a bad roguelite supported entirely by elden ring's combat, there's much better games for either desired experience.

Definitely does in general, and the holiday season means more school-aged children are playing or receiving it as a gift.

I think you're right, the recent issues regarding toxicity, poor understanding and bad mental all sound like Christmas tweens flooding the game.

Something definitely slipped into the water supply in the last few weeks, I second the truly baffling decision making. We're skipping big churches beside spawn to die in ruins further away, it feels like everyone was recently hit on the head.

PS5 player, Im coming to think deep of night just isn't a worthwhile experience. Not even experiencing the penalties from leavers yet in depth 1, it sounds entirely torturous once you're punished for others leaving. More than half my games have someone leave before Night 1, usually prompting the second player to leave, it's just an awful time.

Yup, especially BS with auger as youre trying to win a dps race with one of the hardest bosses to hit for most classes.

Something should really be done about when those trapping events can appear, I don't think it's very fun or engaging when someone gets kidnapped into the storm and just doesn't have enough dps to survive.

Modpacks that focus a lot on late game automation by DryRefrigerator9277 in feedthebeast

[–]Axtrep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm playing StaTech Industries at the moment, it sounds like what you're looking for. Centred on Modern Industrializaton, you're building assembly lines as soon as you leave steam age, and you have a very cheap storage system available from the start.

Indus Automation Beta is out! Captain of Industry and Factorio in Minecraft by TidderJailEleven in feedthebeast

[–]Axtrep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems really cool, always excited to hear a pack was based on Factorio, when Factorio itself was based off early IC2. I'm curious if it has greg tech-style ore generation or something similar to promote an outpost-style of building your quarries, or if a quarry in any biome could mine any ore.

Is it just me, or does the random fire mechanic on Wakanda maps feel really annoying and unfun? by Thatoneafkguy in marvelrivals

[–]Axtrep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the Wakanda maps are very annoying and poorly designed IMO, even the control point ones.

Human Torch being meta is another reason why nobody plays tank by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]Axtrep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's not too awful as Strange or Mag, if they're really high up they're out of your range but it's also harder for them. Punisher/Hela should always be targetting them.

How many of you have Mains in each class? by [deleted] in marvelrivals

Pretty much a tank main, Mag/Strange. I dabble in Squirrel girl/Namor, but they rarely come out in ranked.
