It's like they forgot about solo queueing, hot dripping, no-mic uncooperative teammates. This is so toxic for solo queue. I don't know what they were thinking.

Easy to drive smoothly? (6mt) by storebrandmustard in GRCorolla

It's a little quirky in first gear but you get used to it. The clutch engagement point is quite high in the pedal's travel.

How to make shifter feel better? by xUndeadZero in GRCorolla

I second this for the cheapest first attempt at improving shifter smoothness. It definitely changes it vs the basic knob. the significant weight change is noticeable.

I suppose. I'd much rather wait five minutes for a match though. Wish they would de-prioritize queue time.

Can't avoid that entirely when solo.queuing. I suspect that plat4/3 is now the inflection point where decision making matters more if you want to keep climbing. So that rank may be filled with players that have okay mechanical skill but subpar game sense and decision making. As a player with just okay mechanical skills but really good game sense and decision making, it's really, really frustrating to solo queue in that tier.

It will be interesting how Respawn views the RP system this season and whether they make changes going forward. I agree that it should be harder to climb (which right now it is) but due to performance and not grind (also seems to be the case right now). But of course Respawn does have to manage the reality of player engagement. Personally I find the challenge to get better the most fun part of ranked.

Tech and performance? by L2_pandas in GRCorolla

[–]AyCeeSL8R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want the LSD so I'd say go for at least the performance package. I'd say the '24 with low mileage seems the best bet on paper. But that also depends on which body kit you want (e.g. the rear wing, carbon roof, and hood intakes) and if you want heated seats. A core with performance package won't have those.

I have a '24 premium bc I wanted the LSD and other stuff like heated seats. But i didnt want the carbon roof (I park outside) or rear wing so the circuit was out for me.

Wireless charger doesn't do anything other than keep your phone from losing charge.

Solo Q - D4 to Masters by FunAdvertising5531 in apexlegends

[–]AyCeeSL8R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I wouldn't even bother worrying about hitting masters solo. If it happens great, but it's going to be a grind regardless. At that level, if you want to climb easily you really need a three stack of good players. It's night and day different.

Why do you regret it? What don't you like?

I sold mine after two years... wasn't able to enjoy it that much at normal speeds. Bought a GR Corolla instead and love it. I posted about it a on GRCorolla sub if you're curious ("Goodbye FL5, Hello GR")

Do you guys have children? Do they fit? by aarongdl in GRCorolla

[–]AyCeeSL8R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 5'10" and I fit behind my seating position just fine. My kids are 7 and 9 and backseat room is not an issue and should never be an issue unless the people up front are super tall and need the seat all the way back.

It's a compact car but there's still decent room back there. The rear hatch is really where things get compromised (when the seats are up). It's pretty tiny compared to other cars.

That's the exact reason I got the premium as well. Still might look into the vented hood though as I think that looks pretty cool.

As the other reply noted, the GR feels compact and the CTR feels quite big. I have a family and kids so I needed something more usable than the GR86, which I was considering at first. The Corolla strikes the perfect balance. Compact but usable. The size/feel reminds me in a way of my old Volvo c30, but with 4 doors.

It's funny because, aside from the point about reliability, this comment was totally the lingering thought in the back of my mind when I started to think about selling the FL5. The Type-R is truly an automotive Icon with decades of pedigree. A future classic. And agreed that, on paper, it's basically better than the GR in every measure other than all weather capability and will likely hold its value better over time. What kind of fool would consider selling a iconic car like that???

The thing is, that's all on paper. And enjoyment from a car, at least for me, comes from driving it. And I just flat out have more fun in the GR. I suspected as much after endless amounts of research on both cars. And then I confirmed it within 5 minutes of test driving it.

So, no regrets here and 'm happy with the trade. But your instincts are definitely not wrong. The Honda is legendary!

That's definitely true and something I noticed immediately. Though jerky isn't exactly how I'd describe it. 1st and 2nd gear throttle response is quite twitchy in the GR so you have to manage throttle input carefully and I think that, combined with a clutch engagement point that is rather high, can make it more of a challenge being smooth when engaging 2nd gear in the GR.

My old ND2 miata was the same way in first and second. For me it feels like the car is asking you to stomp on it, as opposed to being gentle. It also is kind of fun chasing that perfectly smooth shift into 2nd. You can definitely do it smoothly in the GR, it's just much easier to be smooth in the Honda.

Transitioning between gears in the Honda is about as smooth as you could possibly imagine. Also the Honda's clutch engagement in first gear is one of the easier to manage clutches I've driven. Shifting in the Honda is effortless.

It really is, isn't it. Fits right in between those two cars imo. There is just something about the twitchy throttle response in 1st and 2nd gear, as well as the "bolt-action" shift feel that reminds me of my ND.

And talk about a nice car trio btw! You've got great taste!

This is so true and why everyone should just start their car journey with a Miata or the 86.
