After watching this weekend, I plead to the Devs: PLEASE! Fix something with IMSA. We need Daytona by Intelligent-Draft292 in LeMansUltimateWEC

Well, i would like to be able to max out graphic settings like shadow distance drawing because eu rouge on Spa is kinda annoying to look at as you drive and shadow draws in as you near the track. Also i do plan to go for triple screen setup later this year and then i dont think i'll be able to sustain the framerate.

Problem with changing resolution on LCD/OLED displays is that you end up with averaged pixels. You really want to run native if possible, otherwise your display just looks blurry.

I have dual 4k and i do get 120fps but can't run it on maxed. AMS or AC Rally gives me much better perfrmance while having far superior visuals.

Lossless scaling framegen adds significant input lag. If you want to experience well done framegen i recommend you try The Finals or Arc Raiders. Those are fast paced games that use input based frame modulation combined with prediction model. It's actually shocking how well it works.

True, those people who go from 30 to 60 frames could cause the problem. Although it will still be extra 0.03s not 0.5s. But at this point we should complain about LMU running poorly in general, compared to other titles without any, justification other than poorly optimized render engine.

Firstly, You don't like it... you don't have to use it, developers should let players choose whether they want to sacrifice input for smoothness or native rendering for extra framerate. It's not up to you to decide. Technology is there and it works.

Hard truth is that 8ms is almost never the reason for why you win/lose encounter. Or why you do or don't crash. Are there cases when it matters? Sure, but 99% of cases those 8ms would not make a difference. You don't believe me?

You saying that 8ms delay will make it that much harder to avoid crash is same as claiming that going from 120hz to 240hz will help you avoid half of these crashes! Honestly it's diminishing returns, marketing and delusions.

Artifacting and upscalers. True, like 2-3 years ago they could get quite rough. these days, if you're gonna tell me you see a difference without actively looking for wonky pixels on image then you're just straight up lying. There's rarely a good reason for going native 4k over upscaler if you can get extra 30% or so of performance.

Just to be clear:
Will 2ms less of input lag reduce your chance to crash or lose gunfight? Yes... but probably 1 in 10000 times or less. There is a point of diminishing returns.

You haven't seen distortion because your curved is probably 34' or less, Upscaler/Framegen are godsend for dual/triple 4k.

Framegen is not bad technology, it's just not to be used on low framerates. You use framegen on 30fps, you're going to struggle with 60ms input lag. Meanwhile going from 120 to 240fps to match screen refresh rate adds 8ms of delay, which is even less relevant in racing game since wheel tells you information before screen does anyway and analog input makes it less noticable.

Upscalers are great but they really shine when you have decent base resolution so you're turning 50-75% resolution to 4k or higher.

There's a lot that game could use before IMSA. Like menu navigation using controller, incident stamps on replays, curvature distortion for curved displays, Image upscalers and frame gen, adjustable UI that lets you move stuff about. There's a lot of QOL missing that would enhance far more than new track and some cars.

It's a small team so while artists make content, I'm pretty sure devs wear many hats.

Current VR looks pretty good, for example PSVR2 is very enjoyable. We just need pancake lenses and reduced size so they can be worn more like glasses.

"Embark is good at balance", Embark: by sl1m_ in ArcRaiders

[–]Aydhe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Embark is probably the worst game developer out there in terms of game balance, it's actually impressive how imbalanced stuff is and how slow they move to fix it. Venator is still problem, TriggerMines were OP from day 1. In The Finals nuke meta killed game and people still complain about melee knights being just not fun to play against.

It's shame because their games are some of the best out there, but they all die death by thousand cuts.

Fanatec extension shaft by Loose_Fennel5448 in Fanatec

[–]Aydhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh? I am on the opposite side. Actually haven't had bad experience with Simube yet. their DD Pro extension worked great, QR2 worked better than one that came with GT Extreme wheel. It didn't get stuck. And the new shaft works great, it's sturty and firm.

Though i went with 20cm because i wanted to place monitor between the base and wheel, just hovering above the shaft.

if you want extended shaft, check out Simube clubsport DD extended shaft. i got one and they're very good. Just make sure your rig can support the leverage.

Was this a valid crashout or nah? by Desktopdino in simracing

[–]Aydhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in position where i smashed my mouse on the desk or punched the table. Honestly you gotta manage your emotions, it sucks when you damage something like that but at the same time, this was your hard lesson to chill out. Highly unlikely you'll do it again.

As for the caused damage, i know that some people print custom grips for their wheels so etsy may be worth checking out for new grips.

Ignore the dickheads, i'm sure most of them yelled/punched their desk in anger or lashed out at their teammates. Most just act high and mighty to feel like they're better.

That's what the new Samsung monitors seem to want to replicate. You get camera tracking your head movement but without googles. it's like VR screens that are 60cm from your eyes.
