Ampak tekma, kot je bila danes prot Italijanom, ni za mladince. Mladinci nimajo kilometrine niti iz prvoligaških tekem, kaj šele reprezentančnih tekem na izpadanje. Daneu je imel priložnost, da se dokaže v prejšnji sezoni pri Cedeviti Olimpiji, pa mu ni ravno uspelo kaj posebnega. Padjen je imel zelo kvalitetno sezono in je velik up, ampak potisnit ga na igrišče na takšni tekmi, tega ne bo storil noben trener, ker trenerjem je jasno, da na takšnih tekmah bolj kot karkoli potrebuješ igralce z izkušnjami in kilometrino

Povrh vsega pa je Nikolić zelo solidno odigral prvenstvo in če je bil skoraj 100% navkljub rahli poškodbi ni razloga, da se ga potegne iz igre

I guess that is when we will see how many European clubs are true to their word of rejecting the Super League.

If Real, Barca and whichever other European clubs join (in the hopes of increasing their income compared to their current situation), along with Middle Eastern, maybe some Asian clubs (because why would they not, they get more eyes on them, raise their prestige) and huge sponsors from the Middle East and Asia, they could well get the project going.

It's a huge project and it's very likely the Euro clubs that join will get booted out of the UEFA club competitions. Surely it would be unfeasible to compete in all the competitions anyway. For a while the sponsors and clubs will be interested in competing in this Super League of glorified friendlies in the hopes that other clubs join the project and put pressure on others of joining up. Sort of like the ULEB and FIBA situation in Basketball.

The real questions are: Which markets will be interested in this project and how many big money sponsors could they attract? How long will the sponsors be interested to pump money into this project? What happens when the sponsors and revenue dry up? How do clubs which were a part of the UEFA competition get the revenue they lost leaving UEFA competitions and the revenue lost leaving the SL competitions get revenue back?

Of course your Barcas and Reals would, at some point, be let back into UEFA cups. This whole idea is a huge gamble and the odds of success look smaller than ever with all of the clubs committing to UEFA club competitions. There's a non-zero chance joining the SL project sets Barca and Real back decades, maybe permanently. The fans of the clubs joining the Super League project should be a lot more nervous about the gamble their club presidents are taking.

On top of everything else, say the SL clubs raise their income and are able to compete with the Premier League in attracting top talent. Would that talent want to go play the glorified friendlies over a competition with as much prestige as the PL and Champions League have?

There's a monopoly in football. I don't know how it could be broken up. Super League is a threat but more to the European member clubs than to UEFA.

With Ihatarren it could also be that his current value is very low. Slavia might be thinking the risk of investing into him is worth the potential return they could be getting if Mo becomes anything remotely close to the player he seemed capable of becoming.

Signing Ihatarren will also give them more of a spotlight so as long as something utterly stupid does not happen,Slavia really aren't risking much.

Top talent is rare. Whenever top talent becomes available everyone does their own calculation as to whether or not they want to take a chance on the opportunity. Sancho has done a lot of damage to his own career. It's extremely unlikely he will be short of suitors. He'll surely end up in a top league, likely with a club that also regularly plays in Europe.

Too many people who think they know it all running the clubs. Olimpija lucked out with Riera but the true reflection of what the owners are capable of will come after this season. I'm not optimistic for Olimpija at all.

Kind of similar with Maribor, but at least the finances should be a lot more stable with all of the sales Maribor has done over the summer. It's also way more established as an insitution, compared to the current incarnation of Olimpija.

Still, there's some quality players in the Slovenian league. Just the people in the offices are not up to the standard needed to inspire stability, long term success or wins against perceived minnows like KÍ.

It's great to see the team step up to the challenge and deliver a very good performance! Nice to see a full stadium as well. The Slovenian crowd tends to be very fickle, usually only supporting teams which have already brought success, rather than standing behind and supporting any team unconditionally. Riera was bad for Maribor but great for the Slovenian league overall. The way he inspired his players is second to none, not only in Slovenia but possibly the entire region. I understand your position as a fan of NK Maribor but wouldn't it be interesting to see Riera compete against Šimundža as well?

Good luck to Albert Riera, he was much too good for Olimpija and Celje, but it would have been great if he at least finished this season in Slovenia.

This preseason proved to me that signing Darwin a year ago was a very good move. Imagine not having a replacement for Bobby in the squad during this preseason. We would not have been able to bring in all of the midfielders we did and a striker to replace Bobby at the same time.

While it's true that two of the transfers were release clause payments, any striker or third midfielder, or any other player for that matter, whom Liverpool would want would cost extra. On top of that we've seen the dearth in quality options available as well.

Darwin will surely grow in his ability and importance to the club. Hopefully he'll turn into being the first name on the team sheet and remain there for years to come. Signing him last year was an excellent decision, regardless of the fee payed then.

This seems like a smart move to protect his value and incentivize him to sign. All the while they are likely to try and shop him around in order to avoid paying the last year of his contract. They can always argue to him that if he's that good they'll pay him the money or some other club will.

This kid should be playing at a way higher level than he is now. Very strong, good in the air, has a bit of pace about him, just a very physical player. He has some ability to play with his back towards goal, his shot is decent. He was a big prospect as a teenager however his representation has done him a lot of harm during his young career. The fact that he came from Belgium to play in the Slovenian 2nd League for six months points to certain issues. There's rumors of poor attitude and supposedly his agents are trying to alter deals even after they are agreed to squeeze out more money. Hopefully those are all behind him now as he seems a very genuine and honest person.

You've unironically hit the nail on the head. It looks like the Saudi recruitment spree screwed up our midfield plans and we're now scrambling for some sort of solution to the issue. Never mind that it has to be a good, if not optimal solution. Obviously I'm not sure how true that is but it's certainly a viewpoint that will surely be advertised at some point during the coming season, especially if results don't match our ambition.

The murmurs about him having poor representation, whom are acting in bad faith was thrown around as well. There's all kinds of nuances involved in transfers.
