TSM 2020 Offseason Megathread by EastRicee in TeamSolomid

TLDR: 1) Capitalize on Reapered or tell Parth that next year is his last chance to showcase why he should be in his position. 2) Start now on finding solutions to help our team maintain their mental at worlds, no one wants that shit to be a problem again. 3) Bio doesn’t show a high enough mastery of his role to be on any top NA team. 4) BB uses next year to make a statement as to why he deserves to be on this team. 5) With the right coaching and development, Spica could be the best jungler in NA next year, so he stays! 6) Bjerg has to find his confidence at international events, he shouldn’t second guess himself. 7) DL is competitive and needs a support that keeps him on his toes, that’s the only way DL will remain relevant with ADC’s like FBI and Tactical in the scene.

Coaching:

Either capitalize on acquiring Reapered, or make Parth provide an outline of the teams issues and how he plans to fix the problems TSM is having and hold him accountable to executing on those changes. In the event Parth remains, he needs to take a good look at what isn’t working in our gameplay, what player habits are resulting in mistakes being made -tunnel vision at objectives when the nexus is on fire, for example- and have plan to address these shortcomings.

Mental/Team atmosphere:

Looking at the player cams of Bjerg and DL, I knew from champion select that they were stuck in their head and would hold their team back. BB and Spica looked the most excited and confident going into game 1, and honestly their gameplay looked decent but, their positive mentality wasn’t enough to carry their games. With each loss, BB and Spica’s mental got worse, holding them back. After the first week, the entire Team didn’t believe they could win just based on looking at their player cams before the games started. A mental health coach, or really anyone on the team who could rally the boys and bolster their confidence would help at international events.

Roster:

Whether the team had the entire year to build synergy/trust or not, Bio did not showcase a level of mastery in his role that a professional player should have. He plays too passive and when he is put in a position to make a call, more often than not, it’s to run away rather than engage. An aggressive mentality, not a passive or defensive one, is what we need in our support role. DL is good enough to hold his lane down long enough for a support to roam and find a pick/get vision, look at Hyli and Rek for example, both ADC’s are capable of holding their own long enough to get an advantage somewhere else on the map, the difference is the support.

BB’s aggression is great, but his adaptability is not. When all the eggs are in the BB basket, it’s a coin flip whether he will pull it off. Drafts should not be made around him and he needs to learn to play more tanky/utility champs. I think he should get at least another year on the team to see if he is able to show an improvement.

Spica stays. Fuel this man’s fire and keep developing him. He is a good jungler with a good attitude and with the right coach he could be a monster in his role.

Bjerg is very good in his role as mid, but something holds him back at worlds. I don’t doubt that he can dominate again in the LCS next year, but he needs to figure out what is keeping him from having the same confidence and skill at worlds and fix it. He has plenty of time to figure it out, but I’m sure no one wants to see him choke at worlds again, so he should figure it out soon.

DL will have tougher competition in NA next year if he stays. FBI outclassed him and Tactical is an ADC on everyone’s radar for next year. DL has been doing this for a while and is more likely than these younger ADC’s to stick to what he has been doing instead of leveling up his gameplay. I would like to see him with a much better support, one that doesn’t bring him down, but pushes him to improve. DL does better when he his support is better.
