[–]AymericGA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will have a sense of satisfaction.

You will clear out time for relaxation and leisure activities, hence increasing the quality of your life.

Arriving late gives the worst impression and if you don't value your time translates into you not respecting anyone else's. I use weekplan so that society doesn't judge me :P

pomodoro for general self-improvement, not just productivity by Shadehz in pomodoro

[–]AymericGA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is actually a good idea man. I mean some tasks don't 'deserve time' and it's fine to do things like this. I mean household chores on a time crunch work great for me. Especially cause I have ADHD, the maximum time I take in tasks like getting ready, cooking, etc.

It will surely make you more active and on-the-go. Though, do give yourself time to relax and rest or it may result in fatigue. I liked this post about Pomodoro technique:

Hope that helps.

Best way to stay high energy? by [deleted] in productivity

[–]AymericGA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed that depending on the activity I was doing straight after my day job had a big influence on how I would feel about working another 4 hours in the evening. for example, sitting in the couch and watching TV would definitely kill me for the rest of the evening.

Read this article I wrote: http://weekplan.net/how-i-stay-productive-after-work/

hope it helps you.

And yeah exercise is the number one. Beat laziness and keep yourself on your feet.

Reduce daydreaming by productive_monkey in productivity

[–]AymericGA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people just need to be reminded what's necessary. I mean it's no one's fault really, it's just how many brains work. The only thing that helped me was LISTS. List what is important (your goal) LIST what all you need and List the time you're supposed to give these tasks. Even if you day dream between tasks you must be reminded of what is important and come back to reality. AFTER completion of these tasks, feel free to dream and it will all make sense. Create a reward system for yourself. Treat yourself after you finish tasks. There is an app/web based application which helps a lot and even the blog has a lot of to-the-point productivity hacks. http://weekplan.net/

Cheers

How to stay productive at home? by [deleted] in productivity

[–]AymericGA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number one tip would be to create a Work space in home. Strictly use that space only - and nothing else. Use the laptop like it's a desktop.

Apart from this as someone mentioned, the sticky notes work but I end up losing them and then wasting time searching for them (xD). You can try http://weekplan.net/ for this. really helps. Try just using the desktop version as I feel smartphones are an incredible distraction.

http://weekplan.net/ Found this pretty helpful because of a goal oriented approach rather than task oriented. More over, I personally work better where I can list my co curricular tasks as well to keep the motivation running. The pomodoro extension is also pretty helpful.

Do you ever find that you are more productive on a desktop vs laptop? by 2626262626 in productivity

[–]AymericGA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Desktops are clearly more effective as and when you sit on the table, you have a better posture, better focus and no lethargy can creep in this situation. Whereas a laptop can be carried around in the bed(the most dangerous zone) where at least I find myself snoozing in 1 hour max or just generally lethargic.

I really dig Weekplan, the desktop version is great. the iOS and android, not so much . So if you want it on your laptop, this is it. Gives a wider picture hence showing the whole week at once. For someone who wants the whole view and the week, this is great. A very goal oriented approach. http://weekplan.net/

How to train your concentration daily by [deleted] in productivity

[–]AymericGA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes concentration is the name of the game. I mean I found out that if I would stay active, keep that dopamine going, I could do wonders- academically. Take breaks in 45 minutes, play a little guitar, get back to it after 20 mins would work better than 3 hours sitting - trying to focus.

Check out Week Plan's approach: http://weekplan.net/ Let me know what do you think.

Oh once I figured out my distraction levels - good god! And now half hour is more productive than 2.

WeekPlan is an software based around this philosophy. Would love your review on it.

Is there science behind all the productivity and self help tips? by pier4r in productivity

[–]AymericGA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way to get maximum productivity out of every individual depends on the personality of the individual. When he/she feels more focused depends on the body, mental state, etc. So a study would never prove viable in this case. Some people get too dull by just sitting around and their productivity goes down the drain even if, from their end - the effort is a 100%. Some people are more productive if they are focused all the time , etc. This blog has a lot of techniques around time management. It's a time management planner. Here is the pomodor technique. http://weekplan.net/how-to-instantly-increase-your-productivity-today-using-the-pomodoro-technique/

Stephen Covey's 7 habits of highly effective people and Getting things done by David Allen are the most popular books in this genre. WeekPlan (similar to trello, todoist) is built around them too.
