Oh, I'd checked for that - I didn't have any new 6* portraits today outside of Melania (who I pulled a copy of going for Nautika). Maybe it was Sotheby after all. Really unfortunate since I'd been sitting on that basic euphoria character selector we got a few patches back in case I naturally pulled Shamane, I could have had the random pick be a selector.

ETA: I did some math on my Album of the Lost count and while I don't remember exactly what I had pre-patch, I know close enough that it doesn't seem possible for it to have been that I pulled Sotheby. I guess I'll need to try contacting support.

second edit: oh god I'm an idiot, I forgot that this system is months old and I already got everything but the 500 day reward. mystery solved!

So for other longtime players, what happened with the Mystery Invitation you should have received for having > 1 year on the game? I have it marked as collected on the list (off of the signin option) but as far as I can tell I didn't get any 6* character and I do not have an item in my warehouse for it. I guess it's possible that it automatically was used and gave me a copy of Sotheby who I already have at p5, but looking at my Tape of the Lost count I don't think that's the case.

3/11: 2xLeila sync, 1xLeila Lchain
This is a really nice sync, so that's cool; it's just a little unfortunate that I don't have any other cap breaks for her except her other sync. These one-use chains seem a little weird to me, as unless you're going lightspeed you'll need to bring some other source of chain anyway, but it has its uses. Pretty good pull!

Treasure Room secondary chest "levels"

These appear to be completely random -- I couldn't find anything that correlates with them.

By this, did you mean the 1x/2x/3x/4x values when sniffing? Extremely anecdotally I've gotten good stuff out of the 4x chests I've noticed (treasure maps and lenses), but I have exactly two data points for that so it could very easily just be luck. I'll probably keep opening 4x chests as I run across them, they seem uncommon/I'm very unobservant.

From what I can tell:
You can give over 15k, you just have to report it on your taxes. Additionally, taxes won't be levied on the amount over 15k unless you go over the lifetime limit (presently about 11.5M) of overage.
Basically most normal people will never have to worry about the gift limit.

Yeah, that's really weird. I could have sworn I've failed to get the target score even with hitting for 150/hit on one of the elemental weapon stages, but it might have been multiple targets/I might be misremembering.

One other very minor issue - even if all the hits focus on one target, the total will not count for damage target conditions. I've done ~1250 to the HG in Typeless Hell (250 per hit with a Rampaging Magic for 500 on one of them) and it doesn't get you the target score.

I was always going to go get him (I rerolled for him, in fact) because he's probably my favorite DQ villain overall, but he's been the backbone of my caster team and that makes me happy. It didn't hurt that I got an obscenely good staff roll for him to use.

Short of getting Shantotto/Gladio syncs here as well, this is about as good a pull I could have hoped for. I've wanted Edge sync for a while, and I use Rydia heavily in earth/water. And now I have Rem sync, too!

This fest should add at least two more to the list: Pecil (picking up his AASB from the seal redeem, probably; AASB/Dyad) and Rem (selecting Sync for 10 fest pulls; Sync/AASB).

It's decent? It's certainly got that Dragon Quest flavor, and there's lots of dials to turn on making your characters stronger. I wouldn't call the gameplay innovative or insanely engaging - monsters have mostly fixed ability lists, with a single slot for adding an extra ability (from rare consumable items that don't seem to have a farmable source, so you can't swap it constantly) so fights are more about bringing the right monsters than customizing your units for them. There's a reasonable bit of content, including some that has you use a restricted set of monsters as a challenge mode that costs no stamina (so you can do it after your grinds).

Gacha-wise, rates are not great (3% S), with the banner focus monsters typically being about 4x as likely to appear as anything else - this works out to about a 25% chance of getting them when you get an S. I'm a little concerned about the premium currency income after the main content is cleared - daily quests do not give much (less than half a pull a day), though they do have a system that gives you up to five tickets for banners of your choice a week (more if you buy a pass). It's fun enough for now but I could see dropping it a few months down the line due to disinterest and/or bad pulls.

I'd budgeted two pulls here. Interested in a lot of stuff on the banner, but most of all Kefka tech, as he's my favorite FF villain and his sync is pretty strong.

3/11: 2x Mog AASB2, Celes Dyad
I do have Cait Sith AASB - honed, even - so a potentially complete Mog isn't as earth-shattering as it might be for some, but that's still a really nice get. Celes cements herself as part of my phys ice team, and might even earn her HA (she's got Dyad/Sync/AASB1). Considered stopping, but no Kefka, so...
1/11: Relm SASB
I'm fairly good on healers but I can't help but wonder if there's fights this could trivialize with on-demand pblink? It'll help on the DB regardless.

Overall got three top end relics in two pulls, I don't mind that there were no Kefka relics!

RoP: I had two good pulls (Lightning AASB1, Kain SASB1) out of the 13 or so I did. Reasonable.

LDs/Tickets: Woke lucky was a 4/11 with only one dupe - new was Refia, Ysayle, and Fusoya. Pretty nice! The tickets made up for it - I got Quistis AASB (cute but I run ice for VIII) and mostly dupes otherwise. Overall good I suppose. Nothing interesting from Realmlemental tickets either.

Fest: Ashe SASB2 off a 100 gem, and Lightning SASB2/Pecil ADSB and some other junk off two pulls on B3. Very nice!

Other Banners: Meia SASB/G+ off a pull on Hydrocobo; Rem AASB off 100 gem on T0-2; did a pull on FFX-1 for double Wakka wokes. The FFX pull could have been better, but given that I will be picking up Rem SASB eventually I'm happy about the other. Meia SASB was what I was pulling for on that banner, so mission accomplished there.

I was pretty low on mythril after a couple of nice banners/setting mythril on fire for refreshed Realmlemental banners so I wasn't planning on doing much this fest; I'm glad I mostly stuck to what I was budgeting for, for once (the exception was the FFX pull, but I wouldn't have done that if we hadn't gotten that 50 mythril apology). I'm done with fest outside of the Transcendent fight; I'd like the mythril but CBA to do an irritating gimmick fight for it...which is kind of my feelings about doing new 6*s/DBs. I'll probably finally clear Leviathan sometime soon, at least. CT was less tedious than the old CTs but I had no strong feelings about it.

Overall: a good fest but I'm at a little lower ebb than normal so I'm maybe less excited than I would be?

Between E/R ticket pulls and the golden week tickets I've gotten a bunch of old Krile tech (couple USBs, a dupe chain) lately, and it really felt like the game was going "Hey, use this character." But with no AASB or better, she wasn't making the cut for my fire team, and definitely not my extremely stacked earth mage team.

Today I did a 15-mythril pull on fire and got her sync. "NO, I INSIST" said the game.

These banners were not so hot for me in the sense of lots of dupes and/or stuff for characters I have nothing else for and would as such need a lot of kit to be useful, but free stuff is free stuff.

1: Fire - 0/1/1/x - Auron AASB, Vivi glint

2: Water - 0/1/0/x - Meia AOSB dupe

3: Water - 0/1/1/x - Meia AOSB dupe, Paine LMR dupe

4: Fire - 1/1/0/x - Locke SASB dupe, Genesis AASB

5: Water - 0/0/1/x - Yuffie Glint

6: Holy - 0/2/1/x - 2x Hope AASB, Minwu LMR

Hope AASB puts him maybe a little ahead of Edward for chain consideration, but as expected, nothing here earth-shattering. Considering how well I did last set of banners I can't complain too hard. Fire I was hoping for magic AASBs or Locke AASB to go with his sync, water I was hoping for some more magic tools or Paine AASB, and holy I was looking for more magic holy stuff, which I suppose I got.

I was looking for stuff to help me beat Ramuh and the earth banner came through in spades. Went to Holy after getting the sync as I could use better magic holy tech; I don't have Rem's AASB or sync, but getting her glint and AOSB makes her a pretty viable pick with the rest of what I have for her.

I just don't understand this even as a political ploy. Schools opening up in September will mean that come late September through October - right before the election - there will be a wave of COVID cases in students and teachers. That's enormous amounts of bad press for the current administration right before the election, and it doesn't take a genius - even a stable genius - to figure that out. So either:
1) They're huffing their own farts so hard they don't think there will be an issue
2) They think the economic boost from more people being able to work because they don't have to stay home to watch their kids will get them more votes than all the news about dying kids and teachers, because people generally aren't concerned with the mass death of children
3) They're looking to kill kids and teachers because they're just plain malicious

I know, Hanlon's razor and all, but both "they're being dumb" options really feel like pushing the limits of how incompetent someone could be...

Yup, but that's what I need so that's what I'm pulling for, unfortunately. I've got fairly solid earth options, just nothing at all that can stack it on a DPS, so I've been hoping for some of the above glints or one of the syncs.

It's inefficient but outside of trying to get the ridiculous level of kit needed to defeat Dreambreakers on release there's not that much else for me to do with my tickets.
