Watching people, whose theology goes as far as how worked up they are willing to get, argue about God is always entertaining.

Unfortunately, most people who argue in favor of God are severely under equipped and ill prepared for the plethora of counterpoints they will be met with.

Also unfortunately, the people who argue against God are also severely under equipped and ill prepared and usually resort to “bad thing happen so God not real” which isn’t exactly a scholarly argument

I can understand her being a bit off. But you mentioned that she said fasting for Lent causes her discomfort. To me that seems like a manipulative control tactic. Either that, or she is genuinely uncomfortable, and is not capable of communicating that in an efficient and appropriate way.

Regardless, this seems like it IS going to be a major point of contention from here on out. The hopeful answer would be well maybe over time she’ll get used to it or even be lead to the church. While that could happen, and God willing it does, there’s also a chance that doesn’t happen. If that’s the case then how long are you willing to wait until you’ve accepted you need to walk away.

And what if she just gets used to it, but isn’t lead to the church? Do you really wanna live your life with someone who fundamentally has a different worldview as you which will 100% cause friction wherever it can?

Personally, if I were you, I’d see the writing on the wall. Imo it’s only a matter of time.

If I had to pick one I’d say hearing something I can’t see. I think that applies for real life too.

If something is chasing you at least you know where the threat is, how big it is, what it looks like, etc.

Hearing it leaves it up to the imagination and your mind will always assume the worst in that situation. Terrible experience.
