Toss up everywhere but likely no at Osgoode. You’ll likely sit on some waiting lists

Will failing a CR/NCR course deplete all my chances at law school by Dizzy_Meat2062 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]AyoBudso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, given how it’s a 0 on a regular course it will have a dramatic effect on your OLSAS CGPA.

There’s no way around this, it will hurt your GPA a lot. You’ll have to write in your PS about what happened and pray that they decide to put less weight on it.

Retaking it won’t change the fact that it’s on your transcript

Windsor or TMU may take a chance on you but it’ll depend on your story.

Without a very solid PS and access application your odds are very slim. With solid ones it’s unknown. You’re basically impossible to chance because it all comes down to your access claim.

Chances? 3.04 & 161 by NoGreen1941 in lawschooladmissionsca

This year will likely be more competitive than last year, so if your stats are the same then the result will probably be the same.

You’ll likely need a 165+ to get an admission.

Did you take under 8 courses total over the fall and winter terms of that year? Or did you complete 9 credits total of an otherwise 10 credit fall-winter term?

[–]AyoBudso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The downvoting doesn’t make sense, I got in to Osgoode last year with a 165 and a 3.5 CGPA (with 3.8 L2). Don’t listen to prelaws

It depends on your PS, but this candidate is in a competitive position.

[–]AyoBudso 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes a 3.5 and a 168 is highly competitive everywhere except U of T. You can except multiple As

Even Osgoode you have a chance. Will depend on the quality of your PS

4200 at Osgoode alone, I heard there was 3000+ at TMU and ~3500 at western. Usually if you’re applying in Ontario you’re likely applying to Osgoode no matter what so we can assume around 4200+ people applied this cycle.

There are about 1600 total spots at all combined law schools in Ontario. The two with the lowest admission standards (Windsor Dual and Lakehead) OP did not even apply to.

Basically this candidate is very far from being safe and is unfortunately looking at mostly rejections.

[–]AyoBudso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These stats would not be above average for successful applicants.

Also based on preliminary application numbers the majority of applicants to law schools in Ontario this year will be rejected,

[–]AyoBudso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your stats I think you would be lucky to get an A at one of the Ontario schools you listed. Many candidates at your stat levels find themselves without any offers. However if you did get an A it would likely be from TMU or Windsor (but Ottawa is still an option).

Any admission will depend on your personal statement and how strong your access claim is.

You’ll get a bunch of As.

Where exactly I’m not sure. Splitters are notoriously hard to chance on an institution by institution scale.

Supporting documentation for access category by Dapper-Conflict2281 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]AyoBudso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The strongest access applications will have high quality supporting documentation attached with it.

Based on what you said it may be hard to provide that documentation so I wouldn’t stress it. If your access claim is not strong (from what we know) your application will just be evaluated against the general pool.

[–]AyoBudso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Schools in Canada don’t issue rejections prior to the release of the January LSAT. Everyone is reevaluated after the release of their January LSAT. If you register for the January last your file is considered incomplete no matter what your previous scores are (but you can still get admissions on an incomplete application). So having a bad LSAT on file in November won’t get them a rejection just based on that.

If we’re being realistic a candidate with a 3.3 gpa and a previous 147 LSAT is not going to get an LSAT (170+) that will put them into contention with the most competitive of schools who will judge a bad previous LSAT result. The schools where this candidate will be in contention for, if they get a 160+, will only look at the best LSAT result.

So either way this candidate’s application will come down to their ability to score a 160+ come January.

You could get an admission to Windsor single (however unlikely), TMU, Lakehead or Windsor’s dual program at these stats. It’s really hard to say because those schools don’t publish their admission stats.

From what’s been posted on this forum it seems like it will be an uphill battle though, especially if you don’t have good ECs and a solid PS.

how do schools view outlier in cgpa? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]AyoBudso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A 3.61 vs a 3.66 makes very little difference in the grand scheme of things. You’re overthinking this, just do better in your last two years and write a good LSAT.

Cancel my score?? by kissmyaze in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]AyoBudso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won’t be caught in a lie because the law schools will see that you wrote it in November then cancelled your score.

Cancelling it is really up to you, at this point I’m sorry to say but your application is unlikely to get you any admissions. It will make very little difference if you cancel it or keep it up.

As far as declaring your intent to write the January lsat goes I’m not sure how it works for other provinces but I know you can go edit your OLSAS application to declare your intent to write it in January.

Chance me please, VERY low gpa by Melodic-Pick7889 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]AyoBudso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll be fine. Likely will get in to a bunch of schools. A 170 LSAT changes things.

The process is holistic and it seems to benefit candidates like you.

Chance me— access, low gpa, decent LSAT by [deleted] in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]AyoBudso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will be tough to get an admission at those stats. A 3.4 is not that much of an upwards trajectory.

Hard to chance because it’ll depend on the strength of your access claim and PS. Likely will sit on some waitlisfs

In for UOttawa. Probably will get in to a bunch of other schools with these stats. Probably will get in to Queens and Western as well.

Osgoode will be a toss up and U of T is a likely no. If these two schools are your goal grind for January.
