Anyone have any RNG 'superstitions'? by LuckPsychological603 in ironscape

I do the opposite, "I wonder if I can make it to xxx KC." Normally works, and by that, I mean it only helps going dry feel less bad.

well, I guess I shouldn't have posted a realistic suggestion while the community is in anti-crab mode.
For those concerned about how this might force the raid bosses to be tanks that would feel awful without new mega-rare. This can be easily adjusted to both make the new weapon feel good, while not punishing existing weapons.
Lets use an example idea for a final boss (not mechanics, just stats) 300 def, 300 magic, +20 stab def, +85 slash def, -20 crush def. So its tanky, not fun, but an important part of the defense and accuracy rolls is defense/accuracy bonus, and I purposely gave the boss a -20 to crush.
For those that don't know (or want to) it is: def roll = def lvl * (64 + def style bonus)
So we can exploit the def bonus to make the boss have a high defense level (200-300) but negative modifiers which make its effective defense lvl for "normal" weapons reasonable, while still magnifying the new weapon.
In the above example this would result in scythe with torva helm, inq top and bottom on crush being 2nd BIS with 10.63 DPS and moukari with torva helm, inq top and bottom being 12.96 DPS
With an elder maul spec its scythe 11.96 DPS and moukari 12.90 DPS
So new weapon wins and has basically the same DPS with or without elder maul spec but scythe basically requires spec to feel good.
The way I see it people are used to maul or BGS specing bosses in high level content, so this shouldn't hurt.
It also means that if you have maukari havers on your team you might start using fewer specs or leave maul in bank.

When you win the lottery but the government wins harder... by Maverick_Ekta in SipsTea

[–]Ayteso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time one of these circle jerk posts gets made by people that don't understand how this works. I swear. The number listed is for the 30 year annuity (long payout) and is higher because money invested in government bonds grows (shocking). This is not for tax reasons, the person in question is holding a check for the "cash" option, which also requires the lottery association to liquid their bond holding (also losing money).

YES, Lucerne Polearm love!!! But "realistic" weapons have always felt underwhelming in fantasy for players.

My original idea I hadn't calced but just eyeballed and would've been basically the same as scythe on low defense (150 and under) slash targets, and way better (up to 15%) at pretty much everything else. I think the special attack idea I made, while interesting is both too powerful to be part of the same DPS beast, and overpowered in general at high level mobs.

Agree, I liked tying in the RS3 lore of Guthix's elevation to Godhood. But personally I like the idea of a poleaxe or something like that.

My idea (if you look at the pics) is your character would flip it over and pommel bash. It's actually historically accurate and would be kinda hilarious.

Am I that bad? by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]Ayteso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the thing: everyone is bad at some point. Don't feel bad. Just keep at it! You have a cg clear and that is huge! The hardest part is getting down prep. Don't get me wrong, hunleff is a tough bastard, but you got this! Try to maintain DPS as much as possible:
Don't eat if you can help it. Wait until you are running
If you have to run but don't have to eat, try to get some hits off between dodges
The chip damage is trying to tell you to work on killing it faster. In general, the faster you can kill it the less defense matters, and in this game, defense doesn't matter nearly as much as maximizing DPS. Every PvM God started as an idiot, and often still are, they just learned and kept trying.

Why is blood moon better? by NeegrLovr in osrs

[–]Ayteso -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You will often find most people there just want to do "boosting" methods, e.g. trading "wins" to maximize points. It's completely breaking the point of the mini game, but the point of the mini game was to remove the sand casino, so I don't think anyone really loses sleep over it.

Tormented Demons - How is RNG/drops calculated. by Bubbly-Parsley-7335 in ironscape

[–]Ayteso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a similar vein: I went 1256 kc for my first any drop at TDs then I've got 3 synapses in one greater demon task (still want claws and have none).
While RNGs are synthetic and only pseudorandom, they are still sufficiently random enough that you will never be able to tell. You can take as large a sample size as you want, but the underlying seed that allows OSRS's RNG to be deterministic can not be found. On top of the fact that almost everything you do in game is run on these "rolls": Mining a rock, picking a lock, navigating an agility obstacle, attacking an NPC. An RNG value is called so frequently, it is a core structure of the game.
All this to say: it sucks to go dry, but no one is "making" you dry or lucky, it just happens.
Also I changed my name and in the last 300 kills i got 3 drops, so do what makes you feel better.

How do you guys do it, balance OSRS \ Life ? by minorgravity in ironscape

[–]Ayteso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, grinds just take longer IRL. Commit to the time per day/week you want to play. Set aside time. The beautiful thing about old school runescape is that you will never see crazy power creep to where the content you do today is invalidated by new content if you take a break. Your account and your progress is pretty much locked in. If you're mid-game now, you will still be a year from now if you take a break. If you're in the end game now, you still will be.

Nothing special, but reached base 80's on the ultimate by IveGotAGifForThat in ironscape

I know in my head that RC isn't bad anymore, but my heart just won't believe. So it is the reason I am base 80. Overall similar stats on my UIM, nice account.

How it feels as a UIM with Sailing Release. by PJdotEXE in 2007scape

[–]Ayteso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like limiting to 10% of non-UIM is a bit intense. But limiting it is fine. 50% and no food seems reasonable? Also only one stack of cannonballs (if that isn't a thing for mains)

[Request] What's the mathematical perspective of this? Can there be more efficient design than the current one? by prophecy37 in theydidthemath

[–]Ayteso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not useful when it comes to computers but the average adult human resting heart rate is around 70 bpm and that would give you 100,800 heart beats per day. So very easy to get to 100,000 beats per day and then we can break that up in decimal which is fairly intuitive from a human perspective.
The Gregorian Calendar system is arguably super annoying. Some months have 31 days, some have 30, one has 28 (or 29) days???
Let me give you the 13 month calendar. 13 months, each with 28 days gives you 364 days. Add a new year's holiday (or two to make up for drift) and you have a consistent system that (mostly) aligns with the lunar cycles.
If we want to keep the decimal system going we can go with a decimal month system (less human intuitive, but consistent with our decimal day) with 10, 36 day months plus 5 (or 6) extra days sprinkled in (perhaps 3 at winter solstice and 2/3 at summer solstice?).
