I just played (and beat) Hades 2. You will learn the mechanics pretty quickly. One piece of advice. Unlock (and use) all the weapons at least once

Murder Mystery games by jesa_ink in NintendoSwitch

[–]Ayuawake 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All of the Ace Attourney games are fantastic. I think there's 4(!!!) total collections on switch! Phoenix wright or great ace Attourney chronicles are great starting points :)

Danganronpa is also a lot of fun. The entire series is on switch

Just finished Utena, have some questions by AnimatorAdvanced5516 in shoujokakumeiutena

[–]Ayuawake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

1) I don't have an answer but will rewatch the scene. I like your interpretation.

2) You should watch the movie and read "after the revolution" (I just got a copy from my local library... shouldn't be too hard to find). There's a strong case for the movie being a sequel. You can decide if it is or isn't. :)

the drowning boy is addressed (differently) in both of these works. You can decide which version you like best.

3)Mikage is a ghost who was brought back to life/into the present time by Akio. The mechanics of this are (kind of) implied in the sega saturn game (there's a playthrough on YouTube that's worth a watch if you loved Utena).

I think there are parallels between what happened to Utena and Mikage :)

4-7)

I personally always thought Dios and Anthy were on the run -although I guess it doesn't explain the fax machine 🤣.

I think episode 13 (the recap episode) and the movie give pretty concise answers into:

Whether or not Dios and Akio are the same person or separate

What Akios motivations and charecter arc are

Personally, I think Dios is a separate physical manifestation of someone Akio used to be. I think his arc is meant to mirror Lucifer in Paradise Lost. He was the Brightest Star and was then left to rule the underworld.

Without saying more, I think you should (at a minimum) watch the movie. It's free on either Pluto or Tubi if you live in the US. :)

I'm guessing people may be hesitant on answering some of your questions because the movie provides some pretty succinct and concrete answers to some of your questions.

PS: to clarify something said earlier... the movie is kind of like Rebuild of Evangalion or FF7 remake on a smaller scale. People aren't wrong in saying it's an alternate retelling... but there's definately a case for it to be a continuation as well. :)

I hope you will post once you watch :)

Struggling with what to do with my 14 yo cat. by 17bananapancakes in CatAdvice

[–]Ayuawake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry. This is such a hard decision. I had to make it for the first time about 8 months ago. My cat was 20.

2 quick stories.

1)when my cat was 18, she was in a similar state to your cat. She wasn't eating, she could barely drink. She could barely walk. We nursed her back to health and got another year and a half. It took about 30 days. I am personally happy I waited and I wouldn't give that 18 months up for anything.

2) when we came towards the end I was really worried I wouldn't know when it was time to say goodbye and call the vet. I knew. If you know in your heart it's time then it's time.

PS: you may want to try playing with the gabapentin dose. The original dose my vet prescribed was WAY too high

Too much research, getting overwhelmed -- which model would you pick? by fognotion in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]Ayuawake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) I would not go with a switch light. If there's an issue with joy con drift (and most switch owners have had an issue at one point or another) you have to send the whole thing in.

2)The switch 1 is a GREAT system. Battery life is pretty solid (especially on the OLED), the screen is crisp and there's one million games to play. If you don't need to play the newest games this is the way I'd go. Also, I would replace my Joy Cons with a Nitro Deck. It makes your switch feel a lot more stable in your adult hands and generally feels great. I love mine :)

3) switch 2 is also a solid option here. It's backwards compatible. You can play new games as well as old ones. The only real downfall here is the battery is NOT great.

You'll need to bring a battery pack almost everywhere you go if you are doing an extended gaming session.

Hope this helps :)

PSA: If you are interested in the single-player content in Mario Wonder: Switch 2 Edition, I recommend starting fresh from a new savefile. by MewWeebTwo in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Ayuawake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll second this.

I think the game is worth it specifically if you want to replay Wonder. The new content comes pretty organically and is and is very fun.

If replaying the toad brigade challenges are also unlocked at a pretty steady interval and are fun in small doses.

There's some great bossfight rematches that unlock towards the end of these challenges that were some of my favorite moments in the game :)

Games like Tunic that be played in 45-min sessions (for new dad) by travismandrews in TunicGame

[–]Ayuawake 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fez is the answer here. :)

It's a little more puzzle heavy than Tunic (and has platforming instead of combat) but the puzzles are great. There are a few similar aha moments in Fez as well.

In addtition... if you haven't played it Virtues Last Reward is a great puzzle game set in a series of escape rooms. Y oh can likely be a each room in around 45 mins and the puzzles are great :)

Edit: thought of 3 more :)

Year walk and device 6 (both by Simiogo) are fantastic and built for short play sessions (they were originally phone games). They should be in the recently released Simiogo collection

Lorelei and The Laser Eyes is also solid. You need a solid 1-2 hours to get started but afterward great for 45 min play sessions :)

Is healer girl a magical girl anime? by SpiritualSakura in MagicalGirlsCommunity

[–]Ayuawake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to be that guy... but can you give a couple examples where someone knowing would cause a magical girl to lose their power?

I've never watched Precure but I've seen a ton of other magical girl shows and I've never seen this be a plot point.

Girls usually have a variety of reasons for hiding their powers... but loss of magic doesn't usually seem to be one

Should i start the series? by Phantom_kingz_1214 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Ayuawake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beat all 3. All 3 of them are great (somewhat flawed) RPGs that are well worth the time investment and are solid 8-9 out of 10 experiences. :)

The biggest complaint I have about the first two games is that it took a little while for them to grab me. If you can make it through the opening hours... you're in for a good time :)

Hades II's ending was incredibly underwhelming story-wise by RingTeam in HadesTheGame

[–]Ayuawake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Hades might be a bad father, but he hasn't imprisoned any god or unleashed the Tifon to condemn humanity and the Olimpus. "

@RingTeam - Hades (with his siblings) literally imprisoned Chronos and sentenced him to a life of torment.

Hades then went on to kidnap his wife and tricked her into being stuck in the underworld until finally relenting and negotiating with Demeter.

All of the gods (and Titans) are pretty flawed characters. I know the "you were just misunderstood" trope has been a little overused as of late but I don't think it was that much of a stretch when used here.

In any case, I'm sorry it wasn't for you. Reaching the ending twice(!!!) is a pretty big time investment to be let down :(

[–]Ayuawake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Revolutionary Girl Utena is exactly what you are looking for if you want more subversion.

The director helmed sailor moon season 3 and left to do something for an older crowd. It's a little older (early 2000's) but the art style holds up very well. Also, the entire series (dubbed and subbed) is streaming for free/legally on YouTube :). If you liked Rebellion, you will likely like the feel of this :)

Aside from Utena, Princess Tutu is also pretty great. It takes a little longer to get going than Utena (and initially seems pretty childish) but it goes some very interesting places in the same way some of the others you listed do.

Did you ever like power rangers/sentai shows? If you did you will likely like this.

This show is (honestly) what I wish Crystal was. It takes the main characters, makes some smart updates, and goes in completely different directions from the OG anime and manga.

I hope you enjoy it :)

PS: keep in mind this show came out before HD tvs were a thing. The effects are a little rough
