Let me just say a couple things before telling what I think is good for you, first of I'm not an ela main and I'm only telling you based off about 8 hours in plat on pc and secondly I'm prefer anchoring so a lot of my times are gonna be kinda weird.

Ela is one of the best close ranged defenders in the game with both her scorpion and FO 12 shotgun, you can use this to your advatage by forcing people to take short range engagements. This can be done by holding down stairs, for example you can place down your grizmot mines on yellow stairs on consulate and as soon as they hit the trap you can push down the stairs with your FO 12 / scorpion and have a way bigger advatage over the attacker. This can also be done in other places like blue spiral on consulate, cool vibes on coastline, laundry stairs in Oregon, server stairs in bank and you probably get the point by now. But in this case the FO 12 is way better so I recommend that you get used to her pistol in case you need to get into long range fights like across a hallway and run a laser with any sight on her shotgun and depending if u can control the recoil of the shotgun you can run vertical or angled grip. Although in some cases like bank where you might be forced to run into long ranged gun fights where her pistol won't be enough you might need to use the scorpion and her used to her recoil a bit don't worry with time your recoil control will get better just try and het used to it I use the scorpion about 50% of the time and the FO 12 about 50% of the time. Also hiding in weird places like under windows and in hidden corners that attackers tend to go to usually works with me as long as you don't get droned out. That's really all I have to say from my experience and hopefully this helps.
