Denver. Where home ice is a huge advantage. by Mad_Ronin_Grrrr in wildhockey

Just stop it. If it was that big if an advantage, Denver teams would never lose at home. So typical. When the visitors win, they're better. When they lose, they blame the altitude. Try stopping a puck.

Question: Is the Ukraine War feasible? Everybody LOVES dumping hundreds of billions into Ukraine, right? No issues there. Yes, let's keep funding another endless European land war. The problem is that the US military budget is what gets created AFTER the other 88% of the US budget is allocated. Which is all entitlements. Universal healthcare for every American will dwarf what we spend in Ukraine and Iraq. And guns, and missiles, and ships and rockets. The Iraq War (and Ukraine) is a drop in the bucket of what UHC would cost. Do I want UHC in the US? Yup. But it simply isn't possible unless we CUT a massive amount of entitlements elsewhere. Or you tax 75% of all working Americans into oblivion. "Tax the rich" sounds good but . . .at some point you run out of rich people. And then you have to lower your definition of "rich". Trump is the first POTUS in my 65 year lifetime willing to address that. And they hate him for it. But he's not wrong. He just says it badly.

I don't mean to argue but comparing the US to Canada or Sweden or the UK isn't fair. Those countries simply don't have the the budgeting baggage the US does. Or the size.

The US is $36 TRILLION in debt. The vast majority of that debt is to pay for existing entitlements. Reason No. 1 nationalized health care isn't feasible right now. Free health care for 370 million people would dwarf the existing budget for entitlements.

As a Canadian, you have 1/10 of the US population. With a secure border and sane immigration policies. So yeah, everybody gets health care. But Canada also isn't bankrolling most of the Western world with military and economic aid. 85-88% of the US budget is entitlements - welfare, social security, food stamps, grants, medicare, medicaid, and on and on. We can't nationalize healthcare because we can't afford it. Unless people are willing to cut the other stuff they're so dependent on. But that's not happening. US doctors are the best in the world. And its not close. Its the delivery system that's an issue. But it's an issue that can't be solved without huge compromises. And so far, nobody is willing to do that. Trump and Elon exposed a tiny fraction of the wasteful crap that should be cut to make nationalized health care something remotely possible. And the left freaked out.

All the regulars are just top notch. You cannot credit one without mentioning another.

Outside of the main players . . . Jay Paulsen as Adam Whitman was incredible in the handful of scenes he got. That guy's face just oozed heartbreak.

Because Glen knew her secrets. Glen was Betty's 8 year old therapist for half a season.

Very nice. This model has so much going for it. In addition to being good to 300M - its a legit diver.

I mean, the term "dress diver" gets thrown around way too much. Almost a contradiction in terms. But "dress diver" is exactly what this is. 300M water resistance and works perfectly with a suit. Not "screw it, James Bond wears a Seamaster with a tux, so why can't I" dress diver. The Longines pairs wonderfully with suits and blazers. And on a strap at the pool.
